I'm simply stating that we're starting to recruit some very, very average players.
It started on the lines, and now it's seeping over into other positions.
just shut up and check that we're ranked #6 on recruiting ranking

Some people are making way too big a deal out of this class. It's disappointing we lost some guys but all that did was drop our class from being potentially great to good. You would think it was horrible the way some people are freaking out.

I can't believe that most of you guys are LSU fans.Of course it's ok to be critical of the coaches at times and voice your displeasure but some of you guys have nothing positive to say at any time. The same guys bitching about Williams are the same guys that say we should recruit in state,Texas and Mississsippi.Get over yourselves and show some support for your university and team.Very few guys on this board can honestly and correctly evaluate a player on film,so please give up on all these bs scouting reports.Williams wants to play at LSU and the coaches offered him so I'm happy for him and wish all the success in the world.Just because we take Williams doesn't mean we aren't still in good shape with Fobbs and Boone it just means we liked him enough to offer. We have a top 10 class.2 years ago our class was ranked 11th and really had some guys with great potential. Not a lot of the guys in that class were rated that high but they have shown talent when they've played. This class could be the same.Just because Rivals and Scout don't have a guy ranked where you want a player going to LSU ranked doesn't mean they aren't capable of being good players.I hate to be the one that breaks it to you but 60-65% of the 5.9 and above 4* and 5* players on rivals are based on word of mouth and hype alone.A lot of kids don't go to camps and all star games to get seen and evaluated by the "professionals" on those sights.Alabama took an unranked DT this week and I guarantee you their fans didn't act like a bunch of assholes. These coaches get paid to do their job not and evaluate talent not you guys.If you had the ability to evaluate talent like they do then you would also be getting paid to do it.

LSU only has 28 schollies to give out every year,
LSU can SIGN only 28 players each year - they can only award 25 scholarships.

I like this kid... I am an a Slidell grad so I am glad to see another one join LSU. The last one that I can remember that was both LSU Tiger and Slidell Tiger was Blain Bech, good friend of mine. Ironically Armand and Blain wore the same # in high school.
I am glad to have this kid... I can't wait to see him on the field.

If it is true that AW was the #15 WR on our board so what . I'm sure that lsu has a listing of every top wr in the country and every top player at all other positions. Like other top schools we aim for every 5 star, we get some , we don't get some . Just like any other school. Fla, USC, all other schools have decommits also. AW looks like he has great athleticsm and I wish him the best at my school.

I don't think anyone was claiming that we always had Armand high on our list.
Everyone knows that we had two WR de-commits - huge ones and had to find replacements.
Given that situation I think we are having a high possibility of finding a diamond in the rough.

Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford were both three star players out of HS.

jacob hester was a 2 star.

I don't think this is a bad pickup at all.
The class is almost filled, and it looks like there might have been a perceived miss on some "higher profile" targets.
Well I've seen this exact type of scenario play out before, where secondary targets with good football IQ were picked up by USC. These guys had great physical intangibles, but playing in smaller high school divisions or on teams that didn't utilize their skills properly, they did not get the pub that many other recruits get. However, what was always said about them by the coaching staff was that they had more of a drive and desire to be the best.
Both were safeties-- one was a two star and one was a three star.
The two star was this guy named Troy Polamalu. Maybe you've heard of him before.
The three star was this guy named Kevin Ellison. He was an All-Pac 10 pick, was drafted in the 6th round last year, and now is the starter at SS for the Chargers.
Now this doesn't mean that every lower recruited player works out. Plenty don't.
But I am sure that this kid was pored over by LSU's coaching staf and offered because he brought something valuable to the LSU program.
If that wasn't the case, why wouldn't you just give the scholarship to a walk-on Sr. and recycle it for next year?
There is a reason that he was offered. A lot of these guys fall through the cracks, and have high school coaches that don't know how to get them exposure or don't have relationships with college coaches to discuss a recruit's abilities.
I will be interested to see how he progresses.

No kidding. People on this board seem to think they know who needs to be offered and who doesn't. If a 4* doesn't work, they think the coaching staff can just move on to the next one that isn't even available or interested.
I don't mind the pick up. He was lower on the totem pole, but that shite happens at every school. I'm not worried about this at all.

I'm actually pleased with how the staff is making a late rally with WR's given what limited time they have had after the decommits.

No kidding - at least Davis was a bit drawn out and folks had prior inklings. Hunter was out of the blue and very close to the NSD. The staff is anything but complacent/content and really trying to ensure that our Recruiting doesn't drop off.

I give Les as much crap as anyone, but I don't mind this pick up at all.
Very impressive measurables.
Someone on scout said this is the kind of kid that if he went to Arkansas in 2-3 years we would be screaming how did he leave the state, sounds about right to me.

I know I bang on Bates and Fordham, but this kid is no Bates or Fordham. Williams is a player and will contribute at LSU. Nice pickup.
