You know I think we will start to see a trend soon. That trend being a commit then decommit. Reason being is because more kids are starting to commit earlier, which forces other kids' hand on that matter. They feel they need to lock up a spot first or risk getting left out in the cold. Commit first to a school that has mutual interest in you and then shop around for your dream school until you can sign for one. If you cant you still have your backup plan there.
I mention this because I think Appleton would still be open to coming to LSU if offered. There are a few others that come to mind too.
I think its unfair that these kids cant take their official visits before they commit. Well, they can but they run the risk of not getting on board with the team they really want. (this especially holds true for lower ranked players, as higher ranked players get spots held for them specifically). If this is the trend approaching, I think they should allow officials during their junior campaign.

I completely agree Ro. You have to take those commitments when they are there...even if you don't hold onto them in the long run.
I sent you a PM too

got to disagree with you OBU....from what I've seen of Appleton the kid looks like a playmaker. Very good hands, runs solid routes, and rarely got tackled by the first man to touch him.
The kid has seemed pretty uninterested in the entire recruiting process though so if we start feeling bad about DeBose I'd imagine we can sway him with a visit down here.
That's fine. I know a lot of people are high on him; he just didn't jump off the screen to me.
I like all of these guys better:
Randle
Debose
Brown
Patrick Hall (if he plays receiver)
Randall Carroll
Jheraine Boyd
Pat Patterson
Shaq Evans
Willie Downs
Je'Ron Stokes

Well if you have a guy commit to you, you can then start using the other guys who have joined the class even harder to be like "I can't wait till we get to ______ together." Then, he may form a better bond with the guys and in 2 months decide to not even look.
You have to accept the guy if he's billed as high as he is.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but we have Bell, so if we can get Randle and then finally get Benton here in January, that would basically be the equivelant of taking the 3 WR most were projecting us to, correct? Bell is a 4 star, Randle a 5, and wasn't Benton a 5?
Thinking of it this way, I am a little less worried if we don't get Debose, and if this is the way the coaches are looking at it, it would make sense they would pass on Appleton and take the risk of having everything in the Randle/Debose basket.

Appleton was the second best WR on our board IMO. Sad that we wouldn't offer him
DeBose & Randle > Appleton....IMHO

we need a slot WR, a big WR, and a speed WR
Big= Randle
Speed= Bell
Slot= Debose or Wooten
I just don't see where Appleton would have fit in the discussion when looking at the overall picture.

I did one piece for OKpreps for a summer magazine. But there's a new site to be debuting August 29th that I'll be writing all over.

SEC Rage.
Strictly SEC at this point. But with hopes of expanding.

You can look at the home page, but it's not fully functioning right now.

Good deal OBUDan. Be sure to let us know when it's up and running.

Yeah. Just done to show what it will look like. We are in the process of uploading EVERY SEC player into the database. We will have our own rankings, own content, own blogs, own message boards.
But the site will be a little different than a standard recruiting service. Less, "Rueben Randle visits Miami, gives it a 10.5" type stories and more, "Let me tell you why Rueben Randle should go to LSU", supported by facts. But also team content etc. The idea really is to have more of a site that creates debates. Articles that create arguments which will be carried onto the message boards etc. etc.
