Anyone else tired of the top 5 or 10 lists by recruits these days?

Holler at me if we made it as final 2 choices. This top 10. Then trim the list a little crap is getting old.

Don’t really care. I just hate losing top tier Louisiana talent to other schools.

I really find it hard to believe anyone looks at that anymore. Every single year a verbal commitment is proven to mean absolutely nothing. So what makes them think anyone will care what the top 10 is.

yes. I tire of the drama of some of the recruits. i'm old school and like the guy that commits and keeps his mouth shut; no "look at me" games. imo, trolling any coaching staff is immature as hell.

I agree. Social Media has made these guys think they are Super stars before stepping foot on a college football field for a College game. I believe the older guys on here hate it more because we grew up with a recruit making a commitment and mostly sticking to it. Today they make a top 5 and commit to 5 different schools in that time frame. Today it seems like the kid thinks the school owes him something not the other way around.

If commitments are effectively meaningless these days, why on earth would anyone care about a top 10 list?

These days a top ten list is just a list of 10 schools that a recruit thinks should “love” him more than they do. He already knows the school he’s going to, about 90% of the time.

It wouldn't bother me if they didn't have to tell everyone to respect their decision.

Yes. There is no recruit honestly debating between 5-15 teams. It is getting out of hand.

Yep, it's truly gotten old and tiresome. Really means nothing anymore, even commitments don't get me real pumped up like they once did. These kids will ruin a good thing over time. I don't think purposely but if they keep committing then decommit, it means much less, over time.

I honestly find myself not caring that much when we get an early verbal anymore. With how many kids commit and decommit recruiting is getting really overplayed. Let me know when they sign the papers, qualify, and get to campus

Nah. It doesn’t mean much, but I don’t mind seeing which schools are top-of-mind for recruits.

As long as you take them with a grain of salt and understand that things can change in an instant(Marquez Beason anyone?) then it's no big deal. I don't pay them muchmind particularly this early. Only thing I'm really watching this early is visits and in particular which kids are taking early OVs and where. Big change this cycle with those.

I commend the kids who take it seriously, I think that shows maturity and may be the first sign of a great recruit. Those are the guys you want on your team bc those are the guys who will likely grow or allow themselves to grow.

There is nothing wrong with having a little fun while you're young bc lord knows I did but you can do both, have some fun and be mature about your recruitment. If you commit, commit, and go all out to help your team. If you have a true list of top teams, be completely honest with them, don't play around with a schools future.

I hope O and staff learned a lot this past go round. During the season and during the offseason. I hope they change how they close, especially the way they gauge players at the end, at positions of need. Have to get great players when they want in, no matter what.

A top 5 isn’t bad, but when they make a huge deal about releasing their list of top 10-15 schools then say they plan on “trimming the list” in 3 months it gets pretty dumb. Especially when they only visit 4 of the listed schools
