I saw a tweet from an NCAA rep yesterday that said recruits have had the ability to sign electronically for years now. Not sure why they still use a fax.

Nope. That's done on the feed.

One step done by secretary.

Not here. It's no more time than the scan you are advocating.

all the while i'll do it in under 2 min from my scanner to said person's inbox

no offense bud, but you're fighting a losing battle

You are adding steps, not subtracting.

Fax and mail is the best way to send anything.

Email correspondence is unreliable, and cannot be proved nearly as easily.

Fax confirmation, and post office confirmation, means you got it/they got it no excuses.

Instead of letting the fax scan it? You people are idiots

Take a picture and email and as quick as possible. Fax technology should die.

People who support fax 40+ age group

Non fax (believe that superior technology could and should be used) <40

fair assessment?

Meh, people change their email a lot. Many don't list on letter head. Fax is always there.

Where is this nonsense about email being unsecure coming from?

Password protect a PDF if you are super worried about something happening in transit.

I'm sure the coaches call the players when they receive it.

Unless fax technology has evolved from the last time I used it, I find it to be extremely frustrating.

Lol. Right, you just dont get it.

This has nothing to do with the fact that email correspondence is unreliable. So what if a pdf attached to an email is password protected? If you email botches in transmission, its as if it was never sent.

Beleive me rantards, the reason faxes are still used across the country on national signing day by universities, is because fax transmission is more secure and trustworthy. Thats because people who are smarter than you are running those universities. So please stfu.

there is no good argument for using fax machines besides "tradition" (which is dumb anyway)

Of course there is. You just don't understand the process, and apparently like extra steps.

Idiot. Has nothing to do with tradition. Schools need to be able to prove receipt of their recruit's loi's in the most efficiet way possible, which is fax still at this point.

I'm 42 and have refused to use a fax for about 5 years now. In this day and age, there is no reason to receive busy signals while sending a document. It's still surprised by how many big companies that I deal with, that still want to fax things.
Over the years I've sent and missed dozens of faxes that were never received after being sent. The worst that has happened with email is that it goes to a spam folder on occasion.

Having said that, what were people doing 40 years ago for NSD? I understand that it was the same back then, but did they do anything other than the pony express?
