that between fans at the stadium and what they read elsewhere (highly insinuated it was message boards), that they questioned O’s job stability and how much the fan base was actually behind the program.

well that's on Alleva and it's kind of a moot point because other than Clemson, Bama is the most stable situation in CFB

i took your original comment to be more about negative comments about the player

there is nothing any fanbase can do with respect to reverence and stability if we're up against Bama/Clemson. that's on the same level of "they win championships" (which PS2 also said). we can't compete there, either

I get that as adults, you, me, and probably half the posters on this site probably think that these type of things don’t bother anyone because we don’t put so much stock into social media, but in the end....look who we’re discussing and what they have grown up on.

the argument still doesn't make sense if you isolate LSU fans. the problem with the argument is all fan bases melt down, even Bama's cult

That’s what the man said.

I understand the thought process behind what everyone here thinks and that very well may be the case. I also believe Surtain was all LSU for a while. Until about 3 weeks before signing day when reports starting to come out that he was interested in BAMA. I can see the setup, so I’m not arguing that point. But I don’t think it was for the entirety of his recruitment. When he visited unofficially, I’m sure he probably made up his mind and Saban probably laid it out for him.

But, if the kid is saying all the right things and lying about it and you don’t know, what do you do? Stop recruiting the top CB in the country?

i didn't say this. he made an expensive ultimatum that only LSU could bear, and we did...and it didn't amount to anything

You did say that. You may have meant only LSU could bear. But you said ultimatum to LSU. I quoted you. I didn't edit that.

But i see your point.

However, he was also a 5* #1 DT in this class and now he is a 4* #8 DT. He has lost all leverage. he doesn't have any power to make that deal happen anyway.

Problem with that is, they melt much less than any other program in the country.

I didn't realize this only meant LSU. Do you have a link where the ultimatum was specifically for LSU? I learn something every day reading this board. Can I use your made-up bullshite on other boards?

well he was trending bama when they may not have a scholarship for him, let alone his brother. it wasn't specifically for LSU, but it wasn't for Bama (and i don't know if anyone else is in the running, so it was, indirectly, only for LSU)

Who would have ever thought a JUCO player could EVER reclassify. Yes sir, that was some damn MAGIC going on there.

he reclassified to his detriment. how many JUCO players in history would reclassify to lose their only major D1 option, so that they stay in JUCO another year and maybe get 1AA interest? sound logic. nothing fishy going on there

It's never ending with him. At least once a year the guy creates a piece of drama. Will it EVER end?

so what is your % change he signs with LSU, Ree?

No, as has been said before, when the Bama folks say they are getting said player ahead of time.....be well prepared for plan B. Then when that actually happens, you know what the family was saying (even the night before) was BS.

that's why it's a great strategy, if you have the power/skill to pull it off (and obviously Saban does). it costs you nothing and hurts direct opponents a great deal

hell Saban even gets the secondary "look at what they say about you on the internet" points when he creates instability

Agreed.

And it causes you to tell Goodrich “well, we have Surtain lined up, but if he doesn’t sign, you’re our fallback option.”

That’s not much respect to Goodrich.

He did start this year. He wouldn't have started over Fulton imo.

yeah and if we start backing off these guys, then Bama will just do it with EVERYONE and we won't know who is actually available

Agreed. I wouldn’t take Surtain over Fulton or Stingley, tbh. That’s not saying at all I wouldn’t want Surtain. He has a higher ceiling than Fulton, but at this point...I like Fulton RIGHT NOW. And to be honest, just going by practice reports and watching that kids film, Stingley is already better than Surtain. That’s a totally blind comment without seeing him play in a game.

I have no idea. If I was him I would go elsewhere just because of idiotic LSU fans.

If a fanbase goes out of there way to make up shite and create drama when none exists while he is a recruit, he should be well aware what will happen if he comes here and doesn't dominate day one.

I downvote you A LOT. You get on my nerves daily with your shenanigans and posts, but have an upvote for your last post. I agree with you here in this topic

I know it might be a strange concept to some people, but not everybody lives and dies based off of what people say or think about them on the internet
