I recall reading that Hampton would probably be tried at S as well. It would certainly make sense to try one or two of these guys at S since we'll have signed 5 CBs if we land Williams and Hampton.
I can't help but wonder if the staff regrets letting Flott sign early. No knock against him as I'm sure he'll be great, but 5 CBs in one class is overkill if none work out at S. Then we have Brooks possibly moved to S, and Lee may end up there as well if we land him. That makes potentially 7 DBs in one class. If nothing else, we won't have another Fiesta Bowl mishap for the foreseeable future.
Everything you said could be true.
I was under the impression that we only had 3 CB's committed, though...Stingley, Raydar and Flott. I had the rest as likely safeties.
I hope Lee comes here and plays OLB.

I think Hampton and Williams are definitely going to be safeties, and potentially very good ones at that. They both have tremendous ball skills and aren't afraid of contact. Williams appears to have excellent hands, too. The first half of his senior year highlight tape is all of him at WR.

I really don't think so. Stingley, Flott and Jones are the only outside corners I see in this class. Considering we didn't sign a single one last year, I think this was a much needed boost to our depth.

Am I the only person that would rather Jay Ward over Christian Williams?

I'm 100% with you here.

As a corner, yeah. We needed a safety, though.

I'm convinced.
It'll be a tremendous finish if we close with Parker, Hampton, Sopsher, Lee, and Williams. A MS DL would be the cherry on top.

Without saying too much, we have 3 spots to fill now. The other 3 have been filled with guys on board.

Guessing Lee, Hampton, Williams on board.

Vol, those are interesting numbers considering that today you essentially put in your CB for 2 guys who aren't already committed. That tells me either Parker or Hampton aren't fully "on board" yet?

Same.

Scroll his post history. It won't take you long to see which one isn't fully on board.

Id rather Williams in this scenario. Position preference and i honestly just think Williams is better.
Im more crossed as to whether id rather have Flott or have had Ward. Staff supposedly loves Flott and im good with that.

If we're talking the Safety position, I definitely prefer Williams. I like Flott and Ward as Nickel corners.

I used to executive produce a television show on SEC football recruiting. I still have a lot of sources and everything I have been told is that Ish is all Bama. Its the exact same situation as Saban playing games like he did with Hootie. Hopefully everyone I have talked to is wrong.

Like he did with Hootie? So Ish called and begged for a spot in the class but we told him no because we had already moved on to someone better?
Posted on 1/28/19 at 6:15 pm to VolTiger13
Give me a break. If you don't know what was going on with Hootie, then you are not nearly as connected as you think you are.
Posted on 1/28/19 at 6:21 pm to BayouCatFan
What he posted did happen. Jones committed to Bama, we moved to Jamal Adams, Hootie called, tried to visit and asked for a spot and was turned away because we felt Adams was better and in the bag. The public perception of it being a Saban ploy to mess us up with Adams, dont know if its true or not but the above is how it went.
