Per a coach,Blue is very athletic. That means in coach speak that he isn't necessarily just a RB.
He is #2 on the board. End of story.

don't you pull your head out and acknowledge that these are 2 Big XII schools and 2 SEC schools
I didnt know i denied they were in a conference. You act like anyone who questions this at all is crazy because 4 or 5 shitty schools offered him.

Ahead of Storm, Spencer Ware, and Nick Parker?

I see almost no chance of that. The dude and his Dad came to LSU and committed and the staff accepted his verbal. End of story.
I really don't get why people are viewing Storm's verbal different from any other. The only real difference is that he announced the verbal to a newspaper intsead of Rivals or Scout.
LSU did the same thing last year and everyone kept wondering how we could sign all these WRs. In the end, we signed one.

I agree that the LSU coaches know best.
But look at it this way.
rivals (imperfect) rankings
1. spencer ware ranked 118
2. dontae williams ranked 128
3. storm johnson ranked 194
4. blue - unranked
spencer ware had LSU in top 2
dontae williams high on LSU
Storm wants to commit
LSU wants blue over all 3 of these guys
seems strange

Where are you getting this from?

We're all going to feel like idiots if Alfred Blue blows up in the next few weeks

Posted on 7/22/09 at 9:41 pm to bmy
I'm not saying he won't. I'm just trying to learn something about him. This kind of came out of no where.
Posted on 7/22/09 at 9:50 pm to Cash
I think a lot of that is because of the classification change... which still has me puzzled
Posted on 7/22/09 at 9:52 pm to joechristoppher77
He was a junior but then reclassified as a senior, right?
If he moved around a bit, it's not that uncommon. It happened to OJ Mayo and Bill Walker a couple of years ago

I think I'm going to be the first to say it. I like Alfred's film better than Storm's. As soon as he adds more weight he will be a beast.

Cash, lets just leave it at the fact that I was out at LSU the last couple of days.

But you also state he is an athlete and hint he might not be a running back.

Any good looking prospects for next year besides the obvious ones we know?

ESPN eval
Blue is a smooth, natural runner with good fluidity for a taller back. We really like this kid's upside with his larger, stronger frame and good speed. Excels as a plant-and-go downhill runner with his good burst out of his cuts and suddenness through the initial traffic. Reaches top speed quickly and can get thin and slice through the smaller in-line seams just as they open. Has good lateral footwork for a taller back. Runs with good balance and body control. Flashes the lateral quicks to stretch outside and the perimeter speed to turn the corner. Shows good burst and acceleration when he breaks into the second level. Displays good hands out of the backfield and transitions upfield quickly after the grab.
With more experience, we see a back with the natural receiving skills needed to motion out into the slot and cause mismatches. Long and wiry, fast-twitched body is deceptively strong and difficult to wrap up cleanly, particularly with the great momentum he generates through the second level. Breaks a lot of first contact and high arm -tackles with his good upper-body strength.
If he can continue to physically develop and learn to consistently run low and behind his pads, we see a productive yards after contact back at the major college level. Can stop-start and make the first defender miss through the hole but tends to gear down when trying to cut at full speed and is a much more effective as a one-cut-and-go downhill runner with his good blend of size and north-south burst. Has a narrow base (built more like a receiver) and we question his ability to carry the load and run with great power. College success may be predicated on his ability to add size while retaining his good acceleration, footwork and overall athleticism. Could fit into both zone and downhill schemes.
