Got some info directly from coaches at Evangel yesterday that Quinn Giles from Evangel is being looked at hard by Alabama. Saban really likes him as a Saftey prospect and has been talking to him pretty often lately. I know Quinn's father said he would love to see him play at LSU and that Quinn likes LSU but LSU is not looking at him that hard up to this point but do communicate with occational calls and plenty of letters. Just FYI Do know he has offers from Tulane, ULM, ULL, Vandy, Arkansas, Kentucky, La Tech, Baylor, Texas Tech and Miss State.

Saw in today's Mobile P/R that Saban has also thrown his hat in the ring with 5 Star DT Campbell from Michigan. The paper said its an effort by Saban to go more national in his recruiting.

just based on offers, this guy is not top level sec material

its clear saban's strategy is to pick up a few louisiana prospects every year, even if they are leftovers, just for appearances and for that edge when there is actually a good prospect down the road

He's good, but I know that when I was at another school in Shreveport a coach from Bama came to look at a DB who really wasn't that good. Saban has a mold he's looking for. 6'0 ish maybe a little taller and speed. Quinn Giles is a football player, the kid from the school I was at is a track kid.

Yes I believe he is SEC caliber. He runs in the mid 4.4 to low 4.5 all the time. He is beautiful to watch run. He is very fluid. He has great acceleration and incredibly quick hands and feet. He has decent hands and runs good routes. He is not afraid to come up and strike your butt either and has great ball skills. Solid tackler. I do know that he went to the Alabama summer camp in the summer of 2007 and Saban told him he would be watching him and that he thought Giles was the 2nd best athlete at that particular Bama camp behind Julio Jones that was also in attendance. Saban has liked him for the last couple of years and the Alabama DB coach really likes him. He is kind've a late bloomer and if he keeps his hand on straight then I think he can be a pretty big contributor to wherever he goes.

saban doesnt take leftover "just to have a better shot a a big LA recruit down the road" ... Thats probably the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Saban has enough talent lookin at UA that he doesnt have room for leftovers. He probably like the way this kid plays.

Go check the NFL rosters. There was an article recently in the Shreveport Times that only a few high schools in the country have more NFL players than Evangel. The idea that Evangel players are somehow all failures is an urban legend.

And that's it. He's not going to sign with Bama.

I, for one, look for things to get interesting with Campbell from our standpoint.

He might be showing some interest in this guy but I don't think Bama will be saving a schollie for him - they have bigger fish to fry with the run their on right now. Bama will be turning people away.

so because Bama goes after him, we HAVE to offer him a Schollie???

I love how Bama is now directing our recruiting efforts.

Loston is probably a good pick right??

If I were coach at LSU I would definitely take a hard look at this recruit. Saban is a good evaluator of talent and he would probably make a very good safety.

I think Miles can handle talent evaluation, thank you.

We don't need to be offering people just because Bama does. Right now we're able to recruit guys that Bama has no chance at. That's why they need to take more chances on these under the radar guys.
