Darian Claiborne is the one I don't get. He bleeds purple & gold and gathered a number of offers. He dominated at LSU's camp in coverage, even on wideouts. Guy never comes off the field and is virtually the Port Allen offense and defense. Wish we'd make room for him.

Jacobs is looking less and less likely due to academics. I don't consider Dickson a blocking TE. I'm expecting Clement, Edwards, and Jacobs not to be on the roster next season. This season has shown that we don't want to be short on pocket protection.

Cant expect Jacobs gone untul he's gone. And once again Dickson is actually a very good blocker. I consider him a blocking TE. That's 3 returning blocking TEs as of right now and we're adding sa JUCO blocker on top of that.

I'm just not a fan of blocking TEs. I like Stanford's approach there. If they want to really pound the ball, they bring in a 6th offensive lineman and overload a side. TE is still in but is not just a blocker but pass catching threat still off PA...but that's probably a little to inventive for our offensive coaching staff. They'd rather just have 2 and sometimes 3 small OTs out there.

We are pretty deep at LB after last year and weren't focusing on taking LBs this year. We got Melvin Jones who everyone considers better and had no more room for LBs (unless Beckwith ends up there which is entirely possible).

I have no concerns with the staff's development of RB's to play early. I am more concerned with protecting Mettenberger.

So you think 3 freshmen RBs could come in and pass protect very well?

The writing has been on the wall because he wasn't able to play in the bowl game. I doubt the staff is sitting back and letting his academic situation clear up. I believe that are moving on.

You can't just say "I'm not a fan of blocking TE's and I prefer Stanford's offense" and expect the staff to make a change to Stanford's passing game. Whether we agree with it or not, LSU has it's own philosophy and it is bringing in it's own set of players to run it. Stokes is being brought in for need and there is still the possibility that Cethan Carter may get a scholly. That tells me that they are trying to shore up that position.

We won't need all three of them to pass protect, just one.

Hill is a true freshman and is a better pass protector than all of the RB's not named Ware. RB is the easiest position to develop. LSU RB development is on a complete opposite end of the spectrum in comparison to its QB and TE development.

Does Claiborne play MLB? Melvin Jones is supposed to be our lone MLB for this class unless a freak such as Rueben Foster decides to come along for the ride.

Taylor I agree with if we lose Ware and Ford. Not good to have just 3 backs IMO, especially when 2/3 can declare after next year.

I think wed move t.magee back there again, in that case, and wed have 4 very solid backs

..and I think that ellis is a phenominal corner, I just dont think that he fits our mold, of tall corners, and that's the reason why..
its not really a knock on his talent at all

I was pretty pleased by Magee's freshman performance at RB. He didn't provide eye-popping stats but the talent is there. It's just unfortunate that he is stuck behind so much talent. Maybe there will be an opportunity for him to reemerge at that position.

We have 4 commitments who have the possibility of playing CB along with the staff in hot pursuit of Priest Willis. Ellis was also told to come to camp to earn that scholly. If he or his dad thinks they are too good to do that then I would be afraid of that attitude around the program whether from within the roster or outside of it. He had his chance and he decided there were better things to do. With so many suspensions and players getting kicked off the team, the sense of entitlement is the last thing I want to see.

That whole family is a headache

Sucks we couldn't take Taylor, but it is what it is. Wish him the best

Adam Taylor plays against big time competition and isn't your typical size for a RB, the kid is huge. I haven't seen the Ellis kid play but I have seen AT and this kid would have been an asset to this Tigers team.

So in 2014 we could very well have 3 freshmen and 1 junior at RB? Doesn't sound good.

We would be fine in this circumstance. Especially if one is fournette. Look at what bama did with lacy and yeldon this year.
