So everytime the coaches feel worried based on someone's opinion based on an article the coaches need to act quickly and throw out an offer? Look, I don't know what transpired. I know that he is a great player and I've known of the attempts by Bama and Tenn to make moves early on him, which Shea pointed out.
But I don't think we can allow other teams to predicate our recruiting. Now, it seems as though we were recruiting him and did have some sort of verbal tender to him, if those comments by Newberg are accurate.
Maybe we just lost him due to Frank Wilson and whomever coaches at OP right now? I don't know. And neither do you.

yeah, the coaches shouldn't have to work hard to recruit a kid just cause others are outworking us for that very kid. If he dont want to come here he is TIGERBAIT grrrrr. I'll take UT on with the Barrett Baileys of the world that WANT to be a tiger!!!!

Also, where do the $9 paysites get their "Target Recruits" for certain schools from?

The way I see it, Tennessee and Auburn are the hot new schools with "star studded" recruiting staffs. 2011 is the class that will shine. That's two full football seasons between now and 2011 signing day.
