Can't wait to see how Dural turns out
I'm sure there are quite a few posters that bookmarked me in those threads

Alright, miss.

Stavion Lowe. I am really high on this guy. I think he is an ALL-SEC tackle before it is over. He may be the best 'pulling' OL LSU has had in a long time.
Ehhhhh.
Nailed it on Ford, Edwards, and Wort though...and pretty much spot on with the UA players.

what ever happened to him? I think he got kicked off the team at Wisconsin, but never heard anything after that. He had some ability, but it is hard to take into account the guys that are headcases (ala Dexter Pratt).

As I have said for awhile, the talent evaluation part isn't as difficult as the development, coaching, mentoring, and motivating of said talent.

Unfortunately this has been LSU for awhile now.

Nailed it on Hunter possibly decommitting (and took some crap for saying so):
When asked to post your dream class of 09 at each position:
quote:
Well, its one of those borderline decisions, but I think Justin Hunter is a pure longshot. I think he is in a similar situation, just from a recruiting standpoint, as an Xavier Nixon. He is from a state far away, has no real connection with Louisiana or LSU, and will be highly recruited by most top schools in the country.
When asked to post your dream class of 09 at each position:
quote:
QB Russell Shepard - LSU
RB Trent Richardson - Alabama
RB Bryce Brown - Miami?
WR Rueben Randle - LSU
WR Andre Debose - Florida
C John Martinez - USC
OL Xavier Su'a Filo - UCLA
OL Xavier Nixon - Florida
OL DJ Fluker - Alabama
OL Marcus Hall - Ohio State
TE Logan Thomas - Virginia Tech

Nice find...hadn't remembered that.

Another interesting one...I don't know how some of these guys have panned out, but from what I know right now...
QB Russell Shepard - LSU -- Didn't play QB, but is a heck of an athlete that will still be drafted. Transition to WR has been tough, but he has gotten slightly better over the years.
RB Trent Richardson - Alabama. Spot on, easy pick.
RB Bryce Brown - Drafted in 7th round this year (really odd football career) https://www.kansascity.com/2012/04/28/3582357/brown-gets-opportunity.html
WR Rueben Randle - LSU -- NFL 2nd round
WR Andre Debose - Florida -- interested to see if he can ever become more than just a straightline, speed guy. Good as KO returner.
C John Martinez - USC Starting guard who is also available to play center. 2012: Martinez returns for his second season as a starting offensive guard as a junior in 2012.
2011: Martinez started all season at right offensive guard as a sophomore in 2011 and he performed solidly. He was also available to play center.
OL Xavier Su'a Filo - UCLA Stud; just finished his Morman Mission.
UCLA - Xavier returns to UCLA after serving a two-year Mormon mission ... Re-enrolled in school for the 2012 Winter Quarter and will take the field in the Spring ... Was a starter at left tackle in his freshman season of 2009.
2009 - Started all 13 games at left tackle ... Most starts by a Bruin true freshman at any non-kicking position ... Became the first Bruin true freshman to start a season-opener on the offensive side of the ball ... Earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors ... Named second-team Freshman All-American by Phil Steele and third-team by colllegefootballnews.com ... Sporting News Pac-10 All-Freshman team selection ... Co-winner of UCLA's John Boncheff, Jr. Memorial team award for Rookie of the Year.
OL Xavier Nixon - Florida. Starts for UF.
CAREER: Has seen action in 35 games as a Gator, with 22 career starts.
HONORS: A 2009 SEC All-Freshman Team selection by the league’s head coaches…Sporting News 2009 SEC All-Freshman team honoree…A CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America Team Honorable Mention for his contributions his first season as a Gator.
2011: Started at left tackle in nine contests in the 2011 season: FAU, UAB, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Furman…Saw time at tackle in Florida’s 24-17 victory over Ohio State in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl…Received the Extra Effort award following his performance in the season opener against FAU…Named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-SEC Fourth Team (OT) and the Athlon Sports Preseason All-SEC Third Team (OL)…Placed on the Outland Trophy Watch List.
OL DJ Fluker - Alabama. 1st rounder next year
OL Marcus Hall - Ohio State. Redshirted sophomore season after playing a good bit as a true freshman; looks slated to be a starter this year or next if he can make the grades.
TE Logan Thomas - Virginia Tech. Became a super star at QB; always knew he was a great athlete. Probably 1st round QB pick next year.

Lowe ended up enrolling at Tyler Community College for a year then signed with Bethune Cookman in Florida last year. However, I just checked their roster and he is not listed. Guy was so athletic and strong.

Apparently, Appleton was kicked out of Wisconsin for failing grades in addition to some unappreciated extracurriculur activities:
quote:
Former Wisconsin wide receiver Kraig Appleton has reached out to the UW staff to ask about the possibility of returning to the program but that possibility appears remote at best. "Kraig tried to contact me right when camp was getting going," UW coach Bret Bielema said Monday during his weekly news conference. "I had some other people reach out to him. I wanted to make sure he understood that I wasn't sitting there waiting for his phone call. I don't (see) the reality of him coming back to Wisconsin but I do believe in giving people an opportunity to redeem what they've done in the past. The only way Kraig can get eligible because of his academic status would be to go to a junior college. So if I can help him do that, I'll do that. I've just got to make sure he is ready to do things the right way."
Then this from last summer...
quote:
Former University of Wisconsin receiver Kraig Appleton is hospitalized and in stable condition after being shot several times in East St. Louis, Ill., on Saturday at 2 a.m., according to a report by KMOV-TV of St. Louis.

Of those, it looks like Nick Kasa, Darius Winston, Craig Loston (has a chance to right the ship this year!), and William Campbell are set to be busts. Everyone else at least has the chance to play at the next level.
