There was some confusion in recent days whether the five-star safety would be at LSU or Ohio State this weekend but on Wednesday night the Galveston (Texas) Ball standout clarified he’d be in Baton Rouge.

This is a monumental visit for both sides as Texas A&M has seemingly taken the lead for Williams but LSU has always been one program that has intrigued him and remains relatively close to home.

The Aggies have the edge here but LSU has its chance again this weekend.

I just don’t understand the thought of spending your college career at A&M over LSU or OSU. They’ve had 5* bust after 5* bust and they have basically no NFL presence relative to their recruiting. Why not give yourself a chance to be somebody instead of a forgotten about 5* who goes 8-4 every year and hopes to get drafted in the 6th round?

A&M is purely money. Nobody wants to be in that cult town.

I would love to get this guy. I have read a few places that some coaches are recruiting him as a LB. He is very athletic

I mean, this is 100% true.

As someone who lived in Houston, nobody in Texas grows up an aggie fan unless it's already in your family (yes, it can be hereditary).

It just doesn't happen. It's not a school you adopt and become a fan of.

aggie has only been relevant with top recruits since NIL has come into play. Before that, they never had high level guys flocking to visit.

You really have to be shortsighted as an athlete to look at the money they're throwing at you when you think about how it's going to negatively effect your ability to become NFL ready.

I get they never had high level baws “flocking” but in the last few years before NIL they rolled out Mike evans, von miller and Myles Garrett.

Mike Evans and Von Miller were 3 stars. They absolutely turned out to be elite NFL players, but they weren't extremely sought after out of high school.

Myles Garrett was the #1 player in the country and decided he wanted to go to a school with no history of winning, and zero track record of developing players. You don't think there was a massive bag being handed under the table?

And regardless of all of that, you brought up 3 guys that ended up working out for them. Think about all the the others that have essentially done nothing with their time in college station.

You literally can't point to anything and sell a recruit on it. It's just money.

Look I hate the Aggies as much as the next guy, but manziel turned a lot of young kids in A&M even though thru didn’t win anything real

Von Miller was highly sought after out of Desoto, including by LSU

Elko is actually an elite defensive coach. Sure they are getting an nil deal to go there but I don't think they are outbidding everyone.

I'm not saying he was a scrub or unwanted, just that he was ranked 24th at his position. My point was aggie is now bringing in top 50 overall type players.

Solely because of money.

Manziel magic wore off within 2 years of him leaving campus. Fiasco after fiasco of QBs, and i do mean fiascos. Hill (4 star), Murray and Allen (elite 5 stars), were 3 fumbles in a row and were really bad publicly.

When you have no real culture outside of that weird yell crap, the only thing you can do is give out large amounts of money.

I dislike Aggie as well but this just isn't true. Sure they weren't recruiting at the level they have the past 3-4 cycles but even Sumlin put together top 10ish classes. Even stole Speedy Noil. Fisher put together a couple of top 5s prior to NIL. That's doesn't mean $ wasn't the culprit then but something about stones in glass houses comes to mind. We paid players prior to NIL also. Patrick Peterson didn't come cheap(he's just the most famous;we got caught and unpunished). Is $ the only reason LSU garners interest from top recruits? We know better but it doesn't stop us from casting aspersions about others does it? As with Texas, if we could, we would. We can't so we complain. If we had their money wouldn't you expect it to give us a leg up and be pushed around as influence? I thought so.

Yeah, maybe give them a little credit. It’s a fantastic school with a great alumni base. Some kids might just want to stay in Texas too.

This isn’t very complicated

It is though. It’s a weird cult that hasn’t won a championship since Hitler was in power
