Oh I agree if it’s significantly different. I’m assuming it’s not. If we are being competitive then I can live with it if a kid is just chasing a couple thousand.
If we aren’t being competitive then I’ll learn to be ok with 7-8 wins per year bc that’s probably the cap.
Assuming a competitive dollar amount is in play then I’ll take the kid who also factors in where he wants to be vs a kid who is solely about the dollar. That’s what I was saying. Hope that clarifies

Well, Gruss said it's over and I've only ever seen him wrong on 1 thing and that was the coaching search last year. Not sure you can really hold that against him though as Woody masterfully deceived everyone connected to the program.
The big NIL deal fell through on another recruit so Bama spread the money around. That seems the most logical answer to me. They opened the checkbook up because this season was a huge disappointment for them and they're not going to let it happen again. They're not going to let LSU outbid them either especially considering it's 2 wins for them weakening a direct rival with a huge need.
LSU will just shift the money elsewhere. They'll get Harris in the portal and probably another big time CB and maybe even another defensive player somewhere else.

It’s certainly a loss, but it’s not a kiss of death. If we can land Harris and another CB from the portal, and hope Welch develops, we aren’t gonna be in just horrible shape. It’s a tough blow, but I’m still encouraged with our class.

Plus the Bama on3 insiders claim that they are “in the fight,” so I’m not sure if it’s threat level midnight just yet.
I do trust BK on this as well. Last year he felt Perkins was worth it, and Matthews was not. It seems to have worked out in our favor. I’ve heard a lot of people say we are “all in” on ricks. If that’s the case, it should be a tight battle. Bama has deep pockets, but they have spent a Shiteton of money already today.

Yes, I was including the portal in that. You’re right someone could pop up in Spring, but I don’t know what team is so deep at CB that a “big time” player gets caught in the shuffle in the Spring and decides to move on. It seems like a longshot to be counting on finding a starter then.
