What exactly makes anyone think that he will be a better linebacker than he can be a RB?? I don't know where that misnomer is coming from.

NFL linebackers that are 6ft 1/2 inches don't exactly grow on trees in the NFL. Now, there are exception to that rule, but those are the exceptions, not the standard.

Like I said, I hope Les chimes in and says, no way he is playing defense, his size to speed ratio is unlike any other back we have ever had, and I'm not risking losing that to the defensive side of the ball.

he's outgrown the RB position, esp in the modern pro game

i bet there are more LBs at that height than RBs at his weight

Honestly? He's downhill and not terribly nimble and relies on power as an RB. He has the extra gear but he doesn't hit it until he has space.

He is touched by God to be a LB. I hope Aranda talks him into it.

Fournette and Guice are 225-230lbs. D White is pushing 260lbs. A 30 lb difference in weight is quite significant for RB's or any other position in football for that matter.

So, as I said, we do not have any backs with the size\speed ratio of D White.

yeah on top of being big with so-so hips he's an upright runner. speedy guys have a much better history with that style of running

and not nearly as fast

230 is a "big" back. sweet spot for elite RBs is usually 215-225 (i'm talking NFL)

Yeah. His 3A game was get through the hole, crush the linebacker and once in space, outrun the safety. He has never made good cuts. Vision is not great but that is normal for a high school kid.

He needs to be a LB.

No power backs are uber nimble, did you ever see Christian Okoye out finessing linebackers, there are roles for pure power backs in the NFL, always has been, always will be to one degree or another.

A 260lb back doesnt really have to be nimble to be successful in the NFL, you just use use your peed and size to run over people like a charging rhino. You think NFL line backers liked trying to tackle Brandon Jacobs in his prime?

Remember what he did to Laron Landry when the Skins played the Giants. Yeah, I realize Landry wasn;t a linebacker, but sizewise, he pretty much was one, and he got dropped like a sack of potatoes when Jacobs hit him.

if he's serious about being a RB i'd advise him to start working on losing weight and try to drop 20 lbs before August

this is not optimal nor efficient, esp when you can get the same thing with a 225-230 lb back while he gives you more options

there is a reason these guys almost don't exist in the NFL anymore and are role players where you do find them

If he gets down to 230lbs, then he is exactly like our other backs sizewise, what makes him unique, is that he is about 30lbs heavier, and almost as fast as guys 30 lbs lighter than him.

I could see him dropping 10-15 lbs at most, but thats it. Once he gets in the weight room, he is going to lose bodyfat, and probably gain even more muscle mass.

D White has a freakishly huge frame, and can carry a lot more weight than our other backs with no problem.

which means he should be a LB even more

if he wants to play RB and gets bigger he's going to be a FB

Keep him away from FB at all cost. He takes plays off when he isn't getting the ball.

Jalston Fowler at that size ran 11.86 in the 100m.
Devin last season ran it in 10.84. He's not a fullback.
Watch him run it. Youtube
He has a solid 100 lbs on some of those kids. Not kidding. He's within a step.
