Bates recently trimmed his double-digit scholarship offer list down to seven teams: Alabama, Colorado, Florida State, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Ohio State.
Florida State, Alabama, Tennessee and LSU landed official visits in June, and the four-star defensive back made an unofficial visit to Ohio State’s campus.
LSU continues to hold the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (24%), but Tennessee, Alabama and FSU are all close behind.
Following five visits in the month of June, Bates told On3 that he was using the month of July to mull over a final decision before revealing his choice.
“It’s a tough decision, because you can’t go wrong with anyone,” he said. “You have to put feelings to the side and focus on the development and the facts. Is this somewhere I want to live? Is this somewhere I feel comfortable with other players around? All that. You really have to dig deeper.”
Bates is the No. 12 cornerback prospect and a Top 100 overall recruit on the On3 Industry Rankings.

Does this mean we’re actually good at recruiting again? Way too many on the board said we couldn’t do that anymore

Steeples seems to be super excited about Ondre Evans as well. He’s a camp offer, and we know how those guys turn out.
If we can finish our CB class with Johnson, Foster, Evans, Bates, and Mack, watch out.

Either way, if we go into the weekend with Singleton and Bates committing in the last week that would be some serious momentum to build on before the splash.

No doubt. I'm more throwing shade at the idiots on this board that melt when a recruit chooses another school, they don't think we're recruiting highly rated enough kids or other stupid thoughts...
Ory Williams could pop any time too and I'm hopeful we'll get a couple pops after this weekend.

Once bates fully gets his technique down, watch out.
He has ball skills from playing receiver.
