TE Mason Taylor, son of Jason Taylor, will announce commitment Thursday

quote:

Taylor, who is the son of former Pro Bowler Jason Taylor and the nephew of former Pro Bowler Zach Thomas, hasn't formally named any finalists or top group of schools, but he told 247Sports late last week that he has been commutating primarily with the coaching staffs at LSU, Florida, West Virginia, Alabama and Texas A&M.

"I'm thinking of committing during my training camp just to get it out of the way," Taylor noted.

The 247Sports' Crystal Ball doesn't currently hold any predictions from recruiting experts for Taylor, but Ed Orgeron's Tigers and Dan Mullen's Gators are believed to be in the best spot out of anyone heading into the announcement after getting Taylor on campus last month. Pittsburgh, Georgia and Miami were a few other schools that Taylor checked out during June's quiet period.

Thanks for the post.

Any insiders have an idea on where he is leaning?

They feel that LSU is in a very good position. It appears that its an LSU vs Florida battle.

I also heard Pitt is in it.

Edit: Julie put him heading to LSU. She is usually in the know.

It is interesting that 247 has him as the 42nd best TE in the class, but Rivals has him as the 6th best TE and #208 overall.

Lots of discrepancy between the sites. Rivals has their own camps though.

It sounds like LSU feels good about him. Still wish they would have pushed for Shield Taylor instead of Shead last year.

Eta: Although I guess signing Shead was an attempt to get Walter Nolen.

Good on him for going to Stanford. LSU seems to have had a plan to try to get Nolen but that clearly didn't work

I’m starting to get concerned about the numbers hopefully we can use the Bama model and get some of these guys as grey shirts or what not bc spots are filling up quickly with a lot of elite athletes many from Louisiana still on the board

Not saying this kid isn't good, but damn Orgeron loves him some famous parent players

Bloodlines are a good thing to bet on I guess.

Crawford had a good camp showing, the only person who needs to grey shirt or pay there own way is Bo.
