THE INITIAL 32-PLAYER, 5-STAR FIELD
1. Bryce Underwood, QB, LSU commit: Underwood keeps his No. 1 spot. The final drive of his junior season at Belleville raised some questions as he failed to play the role of hero in Michigan's Division-I title game, but he has been excellent this offseason, earning 'Alpha Dog' honors in back-to-back weeks. Underwood is young for the grade, but he has already started 42 games. His 120 career touchdown passes are the most amongst the blue-chip quarterbacks.

9. DJ Pickett, CB: A long-limbed, two-way athlete, Pickett qualified for states in the 100-meter dash after logging six sub 11-second efforts in the race. Some schools have tossed out the idea of having Pickett play wide receiver, but the rare combination of length and speed warrants a good hard look as an outside cornerback. One College Football Playoff regular has compared the Zephyrhills (Fla.) standout to Nashon Wright of the Dallas Cowboys. We see the similarities.

11. Kaliq Lockett, WR: Lockett assembled one of the best junior highlight reels out of anyone in the country, catching 59 passes for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns. The high-flyer out Sachse (Texas) is on the slender side, but the growth potential is evident as camp measurements reveal that he's got larger features. Lockett explodes out of his breaks while climbing vertically and isn't afraid to go over defenders to make grabs. More notably, he can land and escape tackles.

19. Jared Smith, EDGE: Smith remains one of our biggest projections in the cycle, but we liked what we saw out of him last week in Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson's spring game as he flashed plenty of range as an off-ball linebacker. Over 6-foot-6 with some of the longest arm measurements we have come across in the class, Smith is heavy on the traits. We have been waiting for him to take the next step and it appears he might be starting to turn the corner.

25. Jamie Ffrench, WR: One of the more well-rounded wide receiver prospects in the class, French wins with his route running and body control. He might not have a true turbo, but he finds ways to get open and can adjust midlight. As a junior, Ffrench led Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin with 62 catches for 1,247 yards and 14 scores. He was the 'Alpha Dog' of the National Combine and has been a steady performer at multiple events in recent months.

MORE BIG RISERS
— No. 105 Charles Ross, LB, Galena Park (Texas) North Shore (LSU commit): One of the more rare athletes in the class, especially relative to position, Ross ascends 140-plus spots after debuting at No. 247 following the recent reclassification of Tarrion Grant to the 2024 cycle. Ross ran a sizzling 10.36-second 100-meter dash this spring to tie the aforementioned Myles for the fastest 100 in the 2025 Top247

ADDITIONAL NEWCOMERS
No. 150 JT Lindsey, RB, Alexandria (La.) (LSU commit): Owner of sub-11-second 100-meter speed and impressive position-specific instincts and feel, Lindsey combines big-play juice and open-field creativity with down-to-down effort.

No. 191 Taron Francis, WR, New Orleans Edna Karr (LSU commit): Francis showed noticeable improvement during junior season, then followed with strong track context in limited reps, including a 10.86-second 100-meter dash and 21.90-second 200-meter time.

— No. 223 CJ Wiley, WR, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton: A monster junior season preceded a 10.91-second 100-meter effort this spring for the 6-foot-4 wideout. Wiley has a strong football pedigree as the son of a two-time All-SEC D-lineman, LSU's Chuck Wiley.

I'm sure I missed some of the hopefuls, but this is a good start...

@NotAStarGazer Charles Ross is now an industry composite top 150 player, top 15 LB in the country, and top 25 player in the state of TX. He also has a verified/wind legal 100m time of 10.36 seconds this spring.

Now is it ok for us non-talent evaluators to consider that he might be more than a career STs player who won't contribute at LSU? Asking for a friend. Thanks!

Taron Francis was a monster in their spring game against Destrehan.

Yep, I think he'll play for LSU, and not just on special teams.

But, he will be special...

It blows my mind that the 247 rankings team didn't know JT Lindsey existed 5 months ago
Sonny had to tell them about him

Someone probably couldn't handle a differing opinion and RA'd him.
Of course, almost universally, everyone disagreed with him on Ross. Not sure what else you could ask for in a LB prospect. 6'2, an athletic, yet lean frame with the fastest 100 meter of any prospect among the 'elites" in the class, and solid film showing he can at least play football plus some good spring performances in coverage. By the measures used as justification for rankings, he's very likely still ranked too low. The ideal modern LB prospect. Rivals compared him to former Clemson Tiger Isaiah Simmons and if Baker is who we think he is, it's a great comparison. Have to develop the tools.

I’d really like to see us make a big push for CJ Wiley. His film is really impressive and the fact that he’s a legacy should give us some kind of advantage. We get his second to last visit this summer on 6/14. Hopefully we can overtake UGA as his leader.

Didn’t know Wiley was a legacy. Really liked his junior film too. Keeping Taron, and pairing Wiley with either Lockett or Ffrench would be outstanding

Underwood is committed to LSU, but intrigue remains, says 247Sports' Tom Loy, who surveys the latest with every 5-star prospect.

Curious what this intrigue is. He hasn't visited any other schools

Hopefully Taron can follow in the footsteps of the too many to name great Louisiana players. And I think he will.
