I am curious to know how many here have seen him play a game or many games?

I was at the 1st half of the SPS game. Left since it was 44-7 at the time. He has a cannon for an arm, throws a pretty ball. He did have some bad misses, but it was borderline ridiculous how many passes were dropped by his receivers.

Why wouldn’t he have the smarts? So you’re saying Jamarcus was not a successful QB at LSU because he lacked smarts? Even if that were true, which it is not, what does JR’s smarts have to do with Findley.

For a base line on this discussion, which of the below LSU QBs you feel had smarts or lacked smarts:

Flynn
Lee
Mett
JJ
Jennings
Harris
Ellington
Burrow
Brennen

Saw 1 streaming this year. It's clear hes on a team with next to zero talent outside of 1 what looked to be all purpose player on offense (going to tulane?) and they are outclassed by everyone they play just about. I know it's probably a tough transition from a option offense to shotgun spread and that shows.

The defense is just pitiful, it's basically all on Finley to provide Ws through offense and frankly be the entire offense. Finley misses some long throws but he throws it deep a good bit. Hes under a lot of pressure but isnt a total statue at least and runs some. The WRs outside of that all purpose guy were just flat out pitiful, drop a ton of passes.

In all it would be best for all parties if he moved on from there and showcased his talent at IMG. Seems like a lot of the locals there hate him for whatever reason but would probably be a lot worse off without him still.

Now let's see if he can pull everything else that makes up that position together....

Impressive yes...but to play the position at an elite level in the SEC involves a lot more than just having a big arm.

R. Davey - Yes
J Russell - No
M Mauck - Yes
Flynn - Yes
Lee - No
Mett - yes
Jenn- No
JJ - No
Harris - No
Etling- In between
Burrow -Yes
Brennon - we will see

When i rated the QB's ,with a yes,i thought back could the QB make an audible at the line when the defense had 10 guys in the box, was able to read a defense, not stare down the primary receiver etc... Sure Russell had success on offense but it was more to do with jimbo fisher being the OC. Im just hoping Finley will be a "yes" after a year of two because LSU doesnt have JImbo Fisher running the offense anymore.

I retract my original message. It was way too harsh. Carry on.

I don't know about smarts because some things can be attributed to the OC and limiting the QBs ability to check or adjust.

Thoughts about each

Flynn-id take him now and Burrow has his kind if ability
Lee-his freshman year killed any shot he had of being successful. He could've been a good QB. Pass rush scared have him to death. He'd literally just fall down at times.
Mett-played well here. His bad luck we had our worst defenses the last decade during his time
JJ-certain things I admire about him but he will always have a negative spot in my mind because he's what held us back when we could've been great. At least from a fans view. He went through hell from the fanbase and stuck it out but he just happened to be the QB at the end of 11
Jennings-he just wasn't good enough in any area.
Harris-all the tools none of the instints required.
Etling-a gamer. System skilled guy that played I'm the wrong system. I liked him but never thought he'd lead us anywhere.
Burrow-i think he's got everything we need. He's not elite but we don't need elite. Everything is set up for next year. He will get his shot along with the staff. We shall see
Brennan-who knows

Well you start with DJ and you let the rest of the pieces fall where they may

Or, inaccuracy with a poor offensive line and poor receivers.

He's an enigma, but a lot of really good programs are interested in him, so it's possible he's a lot better than he shows in high school games.

Can TJ play tight end?

Jk.

But we do seem to think a guy is coming here as one position, and then learn he’s a TE toward signing day.

Smart kid and knew the offense.

He had just no talent to play QB. Horrible arm talent.

This doesn't fit his narrative, though.

Someone on AFR with Matt Moscona thinks you are T Bob Hebert.

Thanks for the link. Hoping he is close to the talent Trevor Lawrence is, although that is asking a lot.
