Woohoo. In Round 12, Team FibonacciSquared steals... I mean selects Chuba Hubbard, Running Back - Oklahoma State.

Top rated player out of Canada (pairs nicely with #2 Canadian on my team Luiji Vilain). Stupid fast. Has run a 10.55 100M in international competition but from his film has excellent vision so not a strictly straight line guy. Exactly the type of back that should do well in OSU's offensive scheme and particularly against Big12 defenses. If I had to point out possible weaknesses, he might be a little lean and I haven't seen enough catches out of the backfield to know whether this will be a strong suit for him, but definitely a stud.

Amari Carter 6'2 190 S Miami

Dude just likes to hit. Sun Sentinel county's DPOY. He's an early enrollee already making positive impressions. If you ever read the Sun, they pretty much penciled him in as a starter, as his comes in to a position of dire need

OBUDan Selects:

Donovan Johnson, S, PSU

This kid is SMALL. But I love him. He's ferocious. Also clocked a 4.35 at the Opening, so he can run. I don't think he can play CB on the outside at 5'9", 170. So I think he winds up either as a Nickel or a FS type. I'm slotting him in a FS roll where he can cover a ton of ground on the back end.

But I will take:

Tyler Johnson DE Arizona State

Stud top 10 DE in the class easy. I was hoping he could slip 2 or 3 more rounds

Probably spot on on Johnson there Dan. Seems most likely destined for Nickel/FS... somewhere his size is less liability and can use that speed to abuse quarterbacks and smaller receivers. Solid pickup.

Ugh... now the long wait to see if the next guy I want makes it back around.

I was all set to take Perry. Competitive corner out of Bishop Gorman. ASU's pass defense blows too.

I will take Gary Johnson ILB Texas. He is a JUCO guy who is a little undersized. Listed at 6'1 225 but probably smaller than that. He is crazy athletic though. One burntorange article claims a 4.26 40 and 39 inch vertical leap. He probably isn't really THAT athletic but he does fly around the field and hit. Here's what a UT insider had to say about him:

quote:

How he fits at Texas: Johnson could be one of the most important recruits of the 2017 class. He’s ultra-quick playing in the box and can scrape laterally as well as anyone on the roster but with a much better idea of what he’s trying to accomplish. This is what an ideal, modern inside linebacker looks like. Johnson is quick and smart enough to handle option or spread passing schemes but also sturdy enough to fill inside and handle lead run schemes. He would probably start at mike linebacker immediately for Texas, pushing Orlando to get creative with guys like Ed Freeman and Malik Jefferson.

He's the only LB in Texas' small class. Here are his JUCO highlights. LINK Very exciting playmaker for Texas.

Literally couldn't find anything about Johnson's recruitment in 2015. The search function wasn't working in the 2015 draft doc but I looked through a few position lists in there to make sure he wasn't drafted. Seems like Johnson switched positions in JUCO and blew up. Cool story.

He's definitely available. I was looking at him until I drafted an ILB. Good pull at this spot and I think he is a 4 to play 3 JUCO guy.

He had offers from everyone. I really don't know how Texas reeled him in unless they are offering him playing time immediately. He is a 3 to play 2 from what I read.

Could have sworn he had already been taken. Fantastic pick up in a SDE.

Askew will be a nickel in Auburns defense. I don't see him getting any meaningful playing time for a couple years. Daniel Thomas will be Auburns nickel back for the next three years.
