According to Dandy Don:

quote:

I've learned that LSU has offered Rodney Anderson of Katy High in Texas.

Profile
Highlights

Yes, that is the same high school Adam Taylor attended. When I went to the state title games in JerryWorld last year a lot of the Katy fans were hyping this kid up more than even Taylor at the time.

Hmm

Think any bad feelings from their coaches?

I was just about to say, so much for the idea that we will be unwelcome at Katy

Seriously, I don't think the coaches at Katy would be that petty. I know a lot of LSU fans question not taking a RB and he had that monster game in the state title, but was he offered by UT? A&M? OU? If not why not?

He's about to be a junior

Hill wasn't the 3rd or 2nd best RB in Louisiana when he was going into his junior year.

I don't think so but you never know. I think they realize what the staff was doing, going all out for Fournette but Taylor did find a solid home with Nebraska. What we can hope is Taylor's love for LSU rubbed off on Anderson and that can help us

It shows Anderson is highest on Bama so hopefully we can make up some ground and take him in along with Guice and Brossette

I personally was in favor of getting a running back in the 2013 class so that LSU wouldn't go 2 years in a row without a definite RB signee...yes I know that at least one LSU signee could end up being a RB. I don't like "multi-year skips in a position". And Taylor seemed to be a decent one that wanted to come to LSU. I assume everyone remembers the infamous Taylor statement where he said "I accepted an offer to commit to LSU." The only problem was it apparently was not a committable offer. Aaaaahhhh, the awkward moments of recruiting.

We are signing 2 this year, regardless. Hell..if we DON'T get Fournette..we probably sign 3.

so are we taking 3 RB's in 2015? Guice sounds like he could commit any time.

I think it could be an option. By the time those guys are on campus, it would only be Fournette and whoever else signs in the '14 class

Correct VT, but none of those 2 or 3 have ever played in a college football game or even been in the system for 1 day. I like "balanced" not only in numbers but also in "class distribution". You see what is happening after this year in the RB position.

Ware, Ford -- early to the NFL
Hill - legal issues and will only be at LSU 1 more year at most
Blue - senior
Magee - totally unproven
Hilliard - may or may not come back for the 2014 season

Sooooo now, one RB is the key to whether LSU is remotely covered at RB for the 2014 season.

Do you feel more comfortable in 2014 with a redshirt freshmen Adam Taylor, or a true freshmen Fournette?

Also, if the decision seems close..you end the argument with:

do you feel more comfortable down the line with a Fournette or a Taylor as your lead back?

Everyone is going to say Fournette, but do YOU think that Fournette would be scared off by Taylor? Especially when Bama is taking in as many backs as they can?

Fournette can't play every down of every game. I thought Taylor would be a great guy to have running behind Fournette

I'm aware, just saying there's 2 other ones that are also pretty good, Rodney is a fricking beast though. he deserves a higher initial ranking than 160. 2015 cycle in Texas for RB is like the 2014 cycle in Texas for db's

Les may or may not have felt that the "early playing time" pitch depended on Adam Taylor

VT, I feel more comfortable from a historical perspective knowing that in Feb 2013, Taylor would have signed. Since this is not yet Feb 2014, Fournette hasn't signed. I am NOT being sarcastic, but you this is a modification of "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." I like to cover my bases and it isn't like Adam Taylor was a no talent bum. BTW, you also have to consider the possibility of future injuries, etc.

IMO, NOT the best recruiting decision LSU made last class.

Fournette has been considering other schools that are NOT cleared remotely as well on the depth chart as LSU's is...with or without Taylor being on the roster.

He really is the definition of a solid APB as his highlights show. Would love to have him even along with Guice and Brossette

If we take Taylor, we don't have this big of a lead for LF it's that simple.

Anderson is a beast lets focus on that
