re: 2014 Class - Commit with most upside

It's all in how you define "upside."

It's kind of inherently messy when talking about HS to college players.

For example, Leonard Fournette has comparatively little "upside" when it comes to actual production on the field. There's very little chance he posts the numbers he did in HS at college or the NFL.

Now, can Leonard Fournette get better? I think so.

Now, Malachi Dupre, he's got a ton of upside production wise, since he was in such a run-oriented attack. His HS production was modest, but his physical package is elite and should result in major numbers in a more passing friendly environment.

But I'm gonna go with Davon Godchaux. Godchaux is built like a brahma bull. Seriously, he looks like a man:



He's so naturally thickly built. And he's explosive. I'm hoping he doesn't lose much from the knee injury, because I think this guy can be an All-American candidate at DT if healthy.

Then ed Paris, Malachi, brumfield

I will say Brumfield.

Prediction: Will Start by Sophomore year. Earn All American Honors in his second year of playing time. Will be a 1st-2nd round pick in the NFL Draft.

You really think that they'll redshirt Harris??

As far as UPSIDE, I really like J. Washington... To me, he looks and plays alot like Mike Evans from TexAM. IF he actually plays like Evans or Jimmy Grahamish I hope CAM adjusts our TE play to more of a split out TE.

As for immediate IMPACT player from an incoming Freshman, I think we're THIN at Guard and WR... So I see Brum or Clapp making an Impact and J. Wash, Quinn, or Dupree at WR. Yes, I said Wash at WR even though I know he is listed at TE.

Obviously, this will all change after SPRING when guys go down or when one of these guys really shows out.

Depends on how you view upside but I, as most, go by pure natural talent vs current progress. Not quite ready to proclaim who has the most because a few have quite a bit.

Harris-he's basically all upside. Hes extrenely raw and his tools are plentiful. Could be a star, could be a what if

LF-he will likely get better but he's already pretty advanced limiting his "upside" from my view. If we are talking getting to the NFL upside then he is easily #1

Dupre-farther along than you'd think but still is just scratching the surface of how good he could be. Hes got AJ Green type potential. Maybe not quite as fast but every bit the athlete

Chark-lots of room to get better. What limits his upside some for me is that he isn't a great talent. Hes a good talent

Upchurch-limited to me. Outstanding prospect but he's pretty far along developmentally. At TE he would have more upside because of body development. At wr he is limited

Washington-I think he has a ton of upside. As his body and skillset develops he could be scary good. Definte seam stretching potential at TE

Brumfield-best OL upside even if we had landed Robinson. You don't find OL with his athletic ability often. Keeping that with his body development would lead to a monster payday in the future. He is a prototype pro OG type

Teuhuma-good bit of upside. Has lots of room to get better all around. I have trouble saying he has elite upside because I think back to guys like Mingo and Michael Patterson and don't see the same natural talent in Sione.

Godchaux-he's got Ego type upside though I think Ego is slightly more talented. Ego never got close to fulfilling his at LSU, though he played well this year and flashed it but hopefully Godchaux gets close while he's here.

Valentine-has room to get much better. That said, imo, Gilmore and Bain from last year are better talents but less advanced

Alexander-all about his physical development. Similar to Tahj Jones in that sense. Has all the athletic gifts you can want but its useless if he doesn't develop physically

Gage-lots of room both skillwise and physically. Again the issue is that he is only a good natural talent, not great.

Battle- huge upside. If his body and skillset get where they can, he'll be a star.

If I had to pick one it would be Harris because he is basically all upside .

If you're looking for a sleeper or someone outside of LF then we can accept other answers. If not, it's inarguably LF.

We aren't thin at guard. And that's hardest position to make am early impact on. I think Brandon Harris redshirts IMO.

I'm gonna say Washington cause he's one of the most athletic TEs I've seen in a while. If he puts on some mass and keeps his speed/athleticism he will be an incredible asset in our offense....

That being said, I'm really hoping the answer to this is one of our Dlineman. Probably our 2 biggest needs on defense (outside of replacing welter but I've given up on that) our that we need a great passrusher and we need to replace what we lost in the middle. Someones gotta step up, could it be a freshman??? That would be pretty cool.
