So Poche and Longhi still undrafted? Nice.

Sorry for the delayed update, busy day at work and I left straight from there for the game. Original post is updated, Palladino gone in the 5th but no big surprises and overall an excellent day for LSU. Palladino's pick value is slightly over $278k. Hopefully his demand is higher than that, and the Yankees have just under $8 million to spend on their 12 picks in the top 10 rounds. Four of their picks were in the top 66 overall, so hopefully they have to spend a lot on them. On the other hand, Palladino is from New Jersey so it could be possible he is a Yankee fan and may not require a big bonus from them.

The draft is in the books with only four signees taken. Williams is obviously gone, as is Palladino who, as speculated, turns out to be a Yankee fan.
Longhi and Bugg were taken late. There is a very small chance they sign, but it is possible. If they sign for anything over 100k the excess will count against their team's bonus pool for the top 10 rounds. If the team manages to save some money on other players, or just decides they like them so much they're willing to pay a penalty, they could put together a better offer.

If we just lose Williams and pallidino I like this class. Look at gausman and eades, taken in 5th and then in later round and then went in the first and second. Made a lot more money by coming to school.

Was this the first year of the draft going from 50 rounds to 40? I think that may have an effect on how many HS kids get drafted in later rounds. They still need bodies to fill up those lower minor league teams, they have to draft guys they know they can sign when they have 10 less picks than they used to.

It was 40 last year, but that may have been the first year.

Prior to last year the draft was 50ish rounds.. Most teams stopped selecting around 35-40 so they just capped it at 40 this year. I think people forget how many Latin free agent signees there are each year that aren't subject to the draft..
