Please dont take offense to this, but he was way better as a JR. Is there any reason for that, you think. Number of innings thrown over the past year or something?
No offense taken virus. Last year the team was better, so he had a better defense behind him and more run support is one reason it seems so. This year he has worked with a Major league pitcher and they have worked on him getting more outs with his fastball. He can get them out with his curve. He will also get more outs with his change when the hitters are better. In 2A most hitters are so behind on the fb that they hit the change.
It has worked pretty well. His pitch counts are down some and he broke his K record from last year. 105 so far this year.

DeHart has a relative that played for LSU in the 90s. Don't remember who though. Robertson is Kim Mulkey's son, there are a lot of LSU fans in her family in Tangipahoa parish.

Let's remember to bump this after the draft. Hope we keep these guys. Looks like a great class.

Draft day eve bump.
Friday will be our key day. I think Justin Williams still appears to be gone, and the next two to worry about are Palladino and Longhi. There are a few other guys that could slip into the top 10 rounds depending on their true signability.
Has anyone heard anything about Tyler Allen?
ETA: I'll start the 2014 thread Sunday or Monday after the draft and Super Regional.

I heard that Charlie Yorks will not be in the class. Was told his commitment was as a preferred walk on but the offer had been pulled. Haven't spoken directly with him, just what I heard to take it fwiw.

So where do you think the cut off point is for these kids to go or "stay" ? With the new slot system, it should take higher picks to get them to go.
Also where would Ross and Ibarra have to get picked to go in your opinion? Are jones and Eades gone for sure?

cut off point
Not Adam, but under the new system I think you have to assume anyone taken in the top 10 rounds will sign. If they don't it means the team loses that pick slot value from their bonus pool. So if they use one of those picks on a player it likely means they have done their homework and feel confident about signing them based on their conversations.

Fraley was perhaps the biggest pull of the 2013 class for the LSU coaching staff. Coming out of Delaware, Fraley is one of the top overall athletes in the 2013 draft class. Not only is he blazing fast (6.56 60-yard dash), but he also hits with tremendous power. Defensively, he has a cannon of an arm from the outfield and he should factor into the LSU starting lineup as soon as he is on campus.
quote:
While Fraley is definitely a prospect with top-three round kind of talent, there is no concern on whether or not he will report to LSU at this point. Fraley recently informed the LSU coaching staff that he had sent emails out to the interested professional organizations to inform them that he was not interested in signing professionally and would honor his commitment to LSU. This is huge news for the Tigers as he will surely contribute right away.
Most LSU classes usually have 3-4 guys that are very good that get drafted in the top 1-8 rds and we usually lose them. then we have another # of guys go later that show up.
This class seems to be littered with guys that are all 10-15 rd projections and LSU feels very good on almost all of them based off that article.
Seems this class appears somewhat staaaaaacked

As always it depends on the kids special number but as MOT said typically after round 10 you'll see the bonuses start dropping of the table.

Ross could go anywhere from rounds 14-25
Ibarra anywhere after round 15, I think Ibarra will stay; however if LSU goes deep into the post season and he gets a favorable spot he'll bolt.
quote:
Are jones and Eades gone for sure?
Yes, Eades will be a round 2-3 guy and Jones should follow shortly after.

LSU is about to be known as OF-U in baseball.
per the TSD article
Dean: top 5 rd talent but LSU is not concerned
Dehart: top 10 rd, LSU not concerned
Longhi: was top 3-5 rd talent, but didnt have a great SR year and may go 10-15 and LSU seems confident
Zardon: top 15, LSU may lose him
Justin Williams: top 3, 50/50 chance of losing him
Poche: had a big SR season 50/50 on coming to school, no projection
Palladino: LSU is concerned he may leave
Fraley: top 5 rd talent, but told scouts he's not leaving LSU
Karmer Robertson: top 15 talent, a little on the small side and will likely fall further because he'll be tough to pull from LSU
Dean, Dehart, Longhi, Fraley and Robertson would be a nasty haul. I sense a little sunshine pumping in the article, but guess we'll see.
