Yockey woulda got bigger colleges but his grades were terrible.

Bruno was committed to LSU at one time last year before signing with Tulane.
ETA: He is from Mandeville.

Reid Briganc and Blake Johnson and Carmen Angleni are 3 that I know signed out of HS. They seem to be doing well.
It doesnt happen often but there are some good ones that have gotten away to the big leagues.

What's everyone's opinion of Jordan Rittiner
Posted on 8/11/08 at 11:38 pm to elleshoo9
He's a big lefty from Rummel about 6'3". Needs to get into better shape. Has 3 good pitches which is unusual for high school. Tops out at about 86mph or so. Lots of potential

He's from Jesuit.

rittiner is a good HS pitcher, not much more
being a lefty will help, but i dont see him being anything special at LSU
he'll be a 4 year guy who puts up pretty good numbers and is solid

he's 9-0 in legion ball, with an ERA under 3.00
he has only lost a few times over the past 2 years combined with summer and prep ball. And he's prob won 30+ games

Sorry, you are right, Jesuit. There is also a kid named Mason Katz who is a really good hitter.

If he puts up good #'s and is solid then he will be special at LSU....
I've said it already and I'll say it again.....he was the best pitcher that I've seen this year. He was the best at the 5A championships as well.
He will be a really good signee for LSU and produce.

I would put Von Rosenberg and the kid from STM ahead of him. These guys can consistently hit 90's and above and the locations that go along with it. VR has a few more pitches than STM kid but wait till you see what they bring to the table. LSU baseball is just beginning.

Its all but offical that Von Rosenberg and Colvin have more electric arms than does Rittiner, however Rittiner's that player you know will show up at school and contribute all 4 years. I think he can be a player similar to Mestepey, pitches smart and keeps the ball down.

I just thought I would throw this in. From what I have heard LSU pretty much pulled his scholly and jerked him around a little bit and he and his family didn't like that too much so he committed to Tulane. Plus one of his good friends Ross Hardy (pitcher/3rd baseman) is going there as well. Hardy had surgery on his elbow last year, otherwise he would have been recruited more highly.

when i say pretty good numbers, i mean somewhere between 3-5 wins per year and high 3 ERA and maybe a save or two
he wont be a weekend starter at LSU, he'll be a middle relief possible lefty specialist, or a midweek starter at best

you must not have seen von rosenberg then...or colvin, but i havent seen him either, but apparently he's nasty also

i agree...he'll be similar to lane mestepey, just not as good

Hard to really say that now.
regardless I think he can have a Determann type impact on a team by his Jr year

i think thats his best case scenario...and that would be pretty good
i just dont see him as a guy we can send out there every friday or saturday and consistently have a chance to win
but like you said, its wayyyy too early to make any predictions worth a shite

Sounds like Tim Nugent

Wes Luquette, a catcher from Newman and Mason Katz, an infielder from Jesuit are also 2009 commits.
