but really, faxing into a major corporation or government office is the most frustrating thing ever. They either lose it or it doesn't go through. With email, you at least get a confirmation that it was sent, a copy of what was sent, and a time stamp. With a fax all you get was confirmation that something was sent at a certain date and time.
I've had a better experience with emailed "faxes" than I do with emails to a person with an attachment. I wouldn't suggest simply faxing a document to a company from a phone number you got off of the internet, but sending a fax to a verified contact number that is checked regularly has been a smooth process for me 99% of the time.
I will admit that it is not something you tend to do outside of work, so it can be annoying to get it done properly once or twice a year.

For about the hundred millionth time:
The reason that faxes are still used is because faxes are subject to wire fraud laws and scans are not. That is it.

Why not just use Docusign and get with the times?

I have the opposite experience. Faxes to my biggest client get scanned in(yeah ) by claim #. The proper rep cannot avoid having it in his/her file. An email could go to an address of someone who no longer has that assignment or has left the company without me knowing. A result may be needed in a certain period of time. That has caused me some problems in the past.
try explaining 'responsibility' to an IRS employee.
you fax them something, and you have to follow up to make sure it was received and processed. 1/5 times they will not process what you send them.

No experience with that, and hope to keep it that way.

yes.
HOWEVER, the thread about gumbo recipes was a lot better and more interesting. our corp. lawyers require faxes but they better leave my gumbo alone.
and gumbo has just as much to do about recruiting than friggin' fax machines (at least in Louisiana)
