If you look at his body type, he could add 30-40lbs and still be plenty fast enough to play LT. I think he'll develop nicely. He reminds me a lot of Whitworth when he was the same age at WM. (Remember Whit was a holdback)

Isn't Allen the kid who you said you were as confident in as a can't-miss prospect at West Monroe since Whit?

Yes he is. Just too much potential imo. 6'6" 250 as a junior and no fat on him. Easy to bulk up and put at OT and still be very athletic. I feel more confident in him developing than Mingo.

Allen > Blackwell in your opinion?

I know he's bigger than Will, but Will comes from a football family with him being related to Arledge so I expected Blackwell to be a solid player.. I get a sense that he could be a tad soft though

Allen got a mean streak to his game?

Hmmmm tough to say at this point. Will was better in high school. He has a much higher football IQ imo. I mean his dad was a coach and his grandfather is Jerry Arledge. He was 300 at WM though which helped him dominate. Allen is a totally different body type. He looks like a TE right now where as Will looked like a DT. Not sure of the mean streak, he's just a really nice kid. He seems to get the job done on the field though.

Yeah, being a Neville grad and playing against WM's defenses plenty I really respect Arledge, and when I found out Blackwell was coming through WM and was his grandson I figured the kid could not be anything less than solid

I know Will was moved to OL but I have always been anxious to see him play at LSU because I respect the family and their football knowledge so much...if Hitt gets moved to Center like some have speculated, maybe Will can work his way into the starting lineup this year

Allen not explosive enough?

The kid has a 400+ Power Clean. Thats an all explosion exercise.

Not athletic enough?

-He runs a sub 4.2 pro shuttle. (great lateral movement and quickness)
-He has a 32 inch vertical.
-He also had a 97+ Sparq Rating when Nike came to WM last year. The highest at WM was Tyler Glynn with a 109 and DJ Banks with a 104. So Allen is definetly athletic enough to play DE.

Mean streak?

His sophmore year he looked soft at the begining but he improved each week, and by the end of this season he was dominant and UNBLOCKABLE. Even in the state title game the o-tackle he was up against had to resort to tackling him play after play and Allen still got up and made tackles.

Ive talked to Jordan and he is as much of an LSU lock as any WM player in the past.

Im guessing he will be a 4* player potentially a 5*.

I believe Allen, Dillon Day (6'4 250, OT) and Robert Lay (6', 205 SS) will all be attending LSU's Junior Day next month.

Lay is also a player that could be on LSU's radar. Freak athlete 600lb squat, 350 bench, 300 power clean, 4.0 pro shuttle, 4.5 forty, 34 inch vertical. All at 205lbs. He didnt compete in the Sparq combine at WM last season due to a broken arm. Also a great baseball player.

See above post.

260lbs. running a 4.7-4.8 40. 4.2 pro shuttle. 32 inch vert. 400+ Power Clean.

If you dont count those numbers as athletic then WTF is an athletic player.

FWIW: JARED Allen of the Minnesota Vikings is 6'6 265.

Allen isnt quite 6'6 either. He measured at 6'5+ at the US Army All-American combine

Per Scout.com:
Mike Brockers 6'6 260 5 flat forty.

Lester your hatred for WM is pretty comical.

Na Im not talking about just this.

Your always anti-WM. Its pretty funny.

I fail to see why you think Allen will play oline but Im a WM homer so I'll just agree to disagree.

I am sure Trevon Reed will be in the top 3 at least.

I also like Eric Reid from Dutchtown a lot. I think LSU needs to jump all over him.

A sleeper? How about Pat Swilling Jr from Brother Martin? though I hear he may be a better basketball prospect than a football one.
