Yeah y'all will get a little rise in water for sure. Hopefully nothing too severe.

Brewhan, yes we have WST. Most everyone does out here away from town. WST got a bad rap but they do their best for a small electric company.

That being said there is a reason we invested in a standby generator.

Yep my dad is pretty far back there near the river, I doubt it does too much damage though (hopefully)

We have had them at my Moms my whole life and I can say they have been pretty good to us. From my end, not sure where the bad wrap comes from.

Yeah, good call on y'all's part. A generator is a must when you rely on a small electric company during storms.

Honestly, the only times I've dealt with WST was when I was at my grandma's house, and like I said.. we would lose power in light rain sometimes. But, I'm sure it's different for different areas.

My power keeps flickering on and off over here FWIW - In Lakewood Heights in Mandeville by the Police Station.

Anyone on here near this area? If so, how is your power situation?

WST gets a bad rap from Katrina as many customers went without power for over a month. Their problem was there is no way to prepare for Katrina without having lived it once. They thought they were ready and werent as no one was but they still catch a lot of grief for it to this day.

Apparently, a levee broke in Guste Island and 6-8ft waves are coming in.

Very true, that there was no way to prepare without having dealt with a similar situation previously. Another big reason why it took so long for North St. Tammany to get its power back was because of the abundance of trees throughout the area that fell on narrow country roads (many of which have no outlets to main highways), so just navigating to get to those areas was enough trouble.

lots of folks unfairly got a bad wrap from Katrina. Id put FEMA in there too. Hollywood incorrectly portrays them as a first responder. FEMA primarily funds first responder programs and reimburses losses. Thats its.
