this needs to happen STAT. I'm not familiar enough with the terrain/floodplain to know if it's likely or not though.

and it also likely depends on the rain upstream and whatever Pontchartrain is doing.

Does closed at mean you can't get on or off of 55?

ETA. I would guess they would close it right after the 55 exit. If not why even have it open past 310?

Is half of Isaac drying up or is that some sort of radar glitch?

I dont know that..I saw the troopers blocking after the exit going north, but that was several hrs ago. I also think I remember hearing there is flooding on 55 as well but i am not positive about that one

I'm in uptown Nola. I've been without power for almost 24 hours now. I haven't had any contact with the outside world. Can't reach family. House has a good bit of damage. Just turned on my car to charge my phone to post real quick. Can someone give me an update for the area? When will this rain and high winds calm down? Are there curfews? Can I drive? Talk of evacuations? Any bars open? Any deaths? Areas I should avoid? I'm assuming tulane and loyola cancelled classes until Monday? When is this slow storm supposed to pass me over? Just looking for any info I can get. Phone service goes in and out and I'm low on battery. Thanks and everyone stay safe.

Ahh. If that's the case then need to just block it off at 310.

How hard will it be to drive from Houston to New Orleans tomorrow evening?

I would think it would be pretty tough. Probably doable, but expect to take 2x as long, if you are leaving at any reasonable time.

Best wait til Friday, if possible.

New Orleans looks like it will continue to get hammered. They say tropical storm winds will continue till tomorrow morning in Nola. Right now Biloxi looks like it's getting crushed.

Nola will probably get rain through the night into the morning. Laplace is pretty bad and you may not be able to get through. I know there are curfews in st Charles and st John, don't know about Jefferson or Orleans.

If this storm keeps moving west Nola will get fricked again. If it stays moving north then hopefully those bands will die down on the southeast side.

Uptown Bulldog says they'll be open starting late tomorrow morning. Meet me there and I'll buy you a round. Not sure about your other questions, lost power as well. Goodluck man.

My poor dog can't go to the bathroom in these winds. I put her on a leash but it was like flying a fuzzy kite.

I just need some news updates before I go even more insane.
