Yet another toilet issue

So we have a toilet that rarely gets used, maybe once or twice a month.
The bowl loses about an inch of water since the last time it was flushed over time. However it seems like it stops there and never fully drains.
- No water on the floor near the toilet
- No phantom flushing or refills
- No water marks on the ceiling below it
Is it possible it is just evaporation? Or do I probably have some hairline crack in the bowl and it is just leaking to that spot and it is not enough water to really notice?

Could be an issue with the vent stack or just a bad toilet.
Had this issue on a brand new home 3 out of the 5 pro-flo toilets were doing exactly as you were describing. After trying to figure out the issue for an extended period of time I just had the toilets replaced with a different brand.
Think we just had a bad batch of builder grade toilets.

Same here and I attribute it to evaporation over time. If you had a crack in the bowl the toilet wouldn't flush properly and empty the bowl of all debris AKA shite and toilet paper.

Evaporation.
My upstairs bathroom is the same way. Rarely gets used.

Thanks for all the replies, guessing it is just evaporation then.

We had one that wasn't used much at one time. Original upstairs toilet in our house built in the late 60s. We had moved our bedroom back downstairs when we renovated and made a master suite, so the only time it got used was when the kids were upstairs playing and had to use it. There would be a dirty ring around the bowl from where it had evaporated over time. I found closing the lid helped to keep it clean. Less ways for dust in the air to get in there.
