I didn’t listen and signed a year contract. I am not impressed. The actual treatment of my yard was marginal at best. I am getting more accomplished doing it myself and referring to information here than what they’re doing. The response time sucks. I get the impression that the manager knows his shite, but the techs who come out and lay down whatever they’re putting down seem like they know less about their job than I do. I’m basically doing everything on my own now, and paying them to eventually meander their way out here (way late in the game) and give a half arse treatment.

Next time I ask a question and get feedback, I will listen. Promise.

I grew up with a couple guys who have worked at TruGreen. I wouldn't let them pay me for those guys to come treat my yard.

I honestly think you could threaten to cause enough fuss that they’d let you out of the contract.

I live in metro Atlanta. All of the companies here are month-to-month, and I’ve fired five or six of them.....TruGreen included.

I had Spring Green for the last few years. Each year I get a little more weeds. I cancelled with 3 applications left. I didn’t want them to do my preemergent. I just went and bought a spreader and some dimension and I’m pumped.

They (TruGreen) hit all the customers up last month with an email stating that they will be bundling up treatments because of Covid 19 concerns. In other words, their dipshit workers probably took "Corona-cations" and so now they're in a bind and having to give everybody subpar treatments to stay on schedule. This is in addition to what was already subpar treatments even if it was on schedule. The attention to detail, the knowledge, the timeliness and customer service response, - all of that blows. I could have saved the money and just winged it and gotten the same results I have in my yard right now. This site in addition to YouTube gives us too many resources. And the kicker is somebody told me that when I asked about TruGreen on this very site. I swear sometimes I could punch myself in the face.

I think a lot of people are cancelling. The lady was pretty short with me when I did it.

Sorry to hear that. They promise that your yard will look like Augusta when you sign up. Then in a few months they say for only $10 more a month will treat it with super duper green formula that will really do the job. Then they tell you for only $7 more a month we'll give you the ultimate green formula. Then you realize you were suckered and cancel but these frickers are like a cult, they will hound you and try to get your business back. Hell I changed my phone number and moved 900 miles away and they still found me.

Here's my biggest gripe with them. They have their scheduled set of regular "treatments". They use Celcius and whatever type of fertilizer they are using. They also came and aerated my yard in May. That's fine. But in between each treatment, there is action that needs to be taken. That's where they get you. With the money I pay for the scheduled treatments, I could have already saved money just doing it myself. I could have bought a bad arse top of the line spreader and bought what I need from doitmyown to cover me for the next couple of years. I could go in halfs with the neighbor and rent an aerator. Meanwhile, they show up once in a blue moon to do some generic watered down treatment. And to be honest, I've never been home to observe to see if they're even doing the whole yard. When they aerated, I could see that they did in fact do the entire property. You can't miss that. But I have no idea if they're really spraying down the entire yard on a treatment of pre emergent/post emergent/fertilizer.

Then you have 2 weeks to request a repeat for no charge. Anything after that is an additional charge. THAT is where they get you. Because the fact is, there are things that pop up in between those treatments that need to be taken care of. New weeds surface that need to be spot treated, the sod webworms that hit a few weeks ago, etc.

And then they decided to take a few months off because of Covid 19 (which I think is COMPLETE bullshite that they did that). They're working outside and by themselves, so they're properly distanced right? So now, they're off schedule and bundling up treatments together to make up for it. And even with that, they're off schedule so my yard looks I missed a window to lay something down. In other words, half assed. Yet, I paid as though somebody would take extra care and more attention to my yard than I would, which has NEVER happened. That's the whole point of paying somebody else to do it. But they fell through on that promise.

Let this thread be a warning to anybody considering these type services. It's bullshite. Save your money and do it yourself. I'm mainly preaching to myself, by the way. As I've already said, many others said as much in a thread I made up on here, and my stubborn arse didn't listen.

OK. But do they cut down pine trees on the side?

After I fired Truegreen I hired lawndoctor at my old house. My yard was fantastic with lawndoctor. People would stop their car when I was outside and comment on my grass. I just hired them to treat my new house.

sounds similar to my story with TruGreen. I got rid of them a few months ago. I initially hired them a few years ago to bring my St. Aug grass "back from the dead" (back when my job had me on the road all the time) - which they did bring it back after about 8 months of treatment. Well - for the past 18 months or so my yard started looking rough again. I have been battling Take All Root Rot and most recently Sodworms. When I am talking with the TruGreen "service tech" about my issues - and I realize I was the "expert" between the two of us - I figured it was time to cut bait.

So you signed a contract with them for 1 year? They gave me pricing and told me how many applications per year - but there was no contract in place - I could cancel at any time (and I did lol)

I have since hired Treppendahl Landscape. I figured I would give them 1 year. My yard is slowly improving. I will stay their customer service is top notch so far - I've been very impressed. When they took over they came out and took a soil sample (no charge). When I notified them about potential sodworm issues they were out the next day treating the issue. So far so good with Treppendahl Landscape...fingers crossed!!

This is what my expectations were with TruGreen. It's definitely the picture that they painted when signing me up.

I understand...same here. I did a decent amount of research about Treppendahl before I signed up. Everything I found out about them was positive...as I mentioned previously, I am just starting out with them so it is too early to tell.

A few months ago one of my neighbors signed up with Lobb-Alexis - his yard looks outstanding
