Anyone got a good recommendation to get this done in Metairie? Home Insurance will go down about $1600 per year if my house passes inspection. Also, what does it cost?

Does your insurance carrier provide any info/tips for this? I would imagine if they told you this would lower your premium, they would be able to guide you a tiny bit.

It’s USAA. They just requested we do it and referred us to the state website. I was just wondering if anyone had first hand experience with anyone

I have USAA, need to look into this. I did not know this was an option in Louisiana, I did when I was in Florida.

Yea I hadn’t heard about it. I think it started after ida. They have an inspector come out and look for certain construction features like roof design, hurricane ties, gable reinforcements, hurricane shutters or impact resistant glass.

Have to do some minor repairs to some soffit and fascia before I get the inspection, but the savings is around 1500 for the year.

Comprehensive quote was a complete umbrella policy for $3000 per year. Only thing not included there was flood, and I’m in an X zone that has never flooded. We carry it anyway but it’s cheap.

There’s also a program with the LA Dept of Nat Resources where you can get 50% of home improvements paid for to do anything to upgrade your home’s energy efficiency. Includes windows, ac/heat system, insulation, water heater replacement, and some others. They pay 50% and you finance the rest via the LA Credit Union at around 4-6%. Probably going to get windows replaced with it.

Saw his name mentioned a few times. $300 seems high but if it saves me that much, why not.
