Pestop on Oneal Lane sells all the DIY pest control items. The guy is very knowledgeable on the subject too.
You could probably find the DIY online cheaper though.

Ross Louque Extermination Co. LLC out of Laplace. Not sure the initial cost of getting the traps set out but it's about $100 a year and every 5th year its around $500.

I've broached this subject before but didn't really get anywhere. I've heard that it would be tough to sell a house without a termite contract but what's the drawback of diy if you never intend to sell. i know nothing is forever but i'll be dead before we sell this house. and i diy everything else.
i agree with the OP that spending thousands on something i can diy for a few hundred just to have some paper for a hypothetical future sale isn't worth it. i don't think i've ever provided my mortgage any information on my termite pretreatment or ongoing treatment. i've searched my documents and don't see anything on that being a requirement.
so, if you never sell, what's the point of having a termite contract?

I spent $564 on bait stations and bait.
But the recurring annual will only be the cost of the Trelona, and I will only buy more if I need to buy more. frick $300 a year for what will likely just be an inspection.
Starting out with 15 stations and 18 Trelona cartridges.

this thread got me to investigating how this all works. the in-ground stations act as bait first to see if you have a problem (hence the "inspections") and then if positive, you put the poison in there. ?

Are you only wanting sentricon? If you're willing to use the trench method, you can treat a 1500 sq ft with one of these for $95.

A 2 gallon tank with 1.6 oz of product will only cover 10 ft of trench.
That would take a loooooong time.

You're not supposed to use a sprayer with the trench method. Mix it together in a 5 gallon bucket and pour it in the trench in 10 ft sections. All you want it to do is soak into the ground around the foundation. There are some great youtube DIY videos explaining the process.
