Dallisgrass. No good selective herbicide for us in St Aug. Hand wipe with 10% solution of glyphosate (roundup). Looks to be a small yard, so you can get it done with just a little time and effort.

I got a weasel like tool from Lowes a few years back...When I'm done it looks like I have a putting green with all the little holes but I go back and fill with bermuda seed and dirt and it comes back nice. I don't know how you'd fill the hole for a St Aug lawn.

Just topsoil and water usually works for st. aug. The St. Aug should grow back in. Or you could use sod plugs if you want to spend the money I guess.

So cutting it more frequently stops it from reseeding?

No I’m not worried about the way it looks.
I don’t mind having brown spots for a while.
So should I round up it
Then once it’s brown
Dig them up and put top soil in holes?
My back yard is 90 wide by 70 deep

Do I need to dig the bundles up after?

Yes, cut before the seed heads develop, that applies to most lawn weeds that form seed heads.

That would be a personal choice you can make, but not necessary. I would think if dug up, and the divot filled in with sand/topsoil, the spots would fill in with St Aug more quickly.

That is DaIlisgrass and I have 1-1/2 acres that is covered with that shite. I’ve spot sprayed it with MSMA and it just knocked it back a little. Tomorrow it gets spot sprayed with RM43. I to the point I said frick it I don’t live on the property and don’t plan to build till next year so my bermuda has plenty of time to cover all the dead spots. Plus I saw three patches of torpedo grass that will get a taste of RM43 also. I’m going to flag the torpedo spots so I can keep an eye on them and make sure I kill that shite.

Pretty sure you can use MSMA instead.

This is only a portion of the yard but I spot sprayed the entire yard with roundup on every bundle of dallisgrass I could see.
Hundreds of dead spots but hopefully it keeps it gone...

Which bottle of Round Up did you use? I have hit mine 3-4 times and it just seems to piss off the weeds. How long ago did you spray it?

Good job on the Dallisgrass. You can take out that clover with MSM Turf (metsulfuron methyl) -it doesn’t have a temperature restriction. June is a good month for a second application of lawn fertilizer (not weed & feed) - 1 lb of N per 1000 sq ft. By end of summer, or sooner, all your dead spots should be filled in with St Aug.
Consider using a pre-emergent lawn herbicide this fall and next late/early spring and this will greatly curtail, not eliminate, many of your lawn weed issues.
Think of lawn weed control as a war, not a single battle, keep up with the weed control and establish a healthy lawn, this will be your best weed control agent.
Also, don’t know what height you have your lawn mower set, but with St Aug try to cut it at a height of 2 1/2 to 3 inches that that will thicken it up and go a long way to mitigating your lawn weed issues.

Is this spot sprayed only on clovers? Or on entire yard?

What’s N?

You can spray your whole yard. It knocks out a bunch of weeds. I’d do several lighter’ish doses as opposed to one heavy one but that’s me.

nvm you're covered

You can spot spray clover, but if you have more broadleaf weeds in the lawn that aren’t obvious in the photo you can do the whole lawn as jimbeam said - your call. Expect a little temporary yellowing of the St Aug but it will recover.
N is nitrogen, the first number on the fertilizer analysis For example, 24-2-11 fertilizer has 24% Nitrogen. To get 1 pound of N per 1000 sq ft, divide the% N into 100. For example, if you used 24-2-11, you’d apply 4.16 pounds (just round it to 4) of that fertilizer per 1000 sq ft of lawn (100 divided 24 = 4.16). Most of the lawn fertilizers sold at the box stores have around 33% N, so you’d apply right at 3 lbs per 1000 sq ft, and that’s that what they’ll likely have on the bag’s instructions. Just chose whatever lawn fertilizer you want, but avoid the weed & feed fertilizers now, many of the herbicides in those formulations are not safe to use in this heat - it could damage the St Aug.
