Looking to get one for work. I want to be able to see the laser outside at a relatively good distance. Anyone got any recommendations? Looking to spend $500 or less.

Laser distance measure or a level/plumb laser? A good rotary laser with detector and grade stick under $500 won't come from a good brand name. I have DeWalt and Bosch products at $300 and $800.

I used Disto and been very happy for a long time. Look into their devices.

Dewalt. I use it every day. Bosch makes a nice one but it’s too small.

Disto is the best on the market. I use an old model, and haven't looked at any of their newer models, but a green laser is the way to go. The red washes out in the sunlight over distance.

If you're only using it to measure level, optical levels are going to cut your costs of equipment, and don't require recharge or batteries. With the ascent of lasers, the cost of optical instruments have come way down. I have one and it does what I need it to do.

I sell FARO 3D laser scanners for measurement and imaging, but they cost a lot more than your budget. If you have one project, I’ll be happy to scan it for you with my demo unit for free. Otherwise, I know there are a few options like mentioned that will get you what you need...
