Just bought a house and my family wants a pool. The backyard is not very big. In ground or above ground pool sunk into the ground not sure what’s my best route.

If im doing a pool, im doing an in ground. I would never put an above ground in my yard, and I especially wouldnt dig a giant hole to sink one in.

It depends on what you want to achieve. A big above ground will probably run you $5k and an in ground will start at $50k.

Neither. Make friends with someone that owns a pool

Depends on your budget. Huge difference in price.

This is the answer. Be damn sure you want a pool. It's like committing to a pet that lives for 40 years. I bought a house with a pool thinking it was the right thing. I wish I would've bought a different house in the same neighborhood and joined the neighborhood pool

I feel like the pool isn't so bad if you pay someone to do everything.

In ground pool is a game changer. Seems like the longevity and reliability as well as the maintenance has only gotten better with time.

Game days, holidays or just days that end in “day” can be a solitary relaxing dip or big event. Hell even in the winter when too cold to swim it’s still a nice looking backdrop for a fire pit hangout.

I have had to some fairly intensive work on mine but it’s an older one that came with the house we bought years back. Most of that wouldn’t be an issue for a newer design, or at least not for around 10 years or so.

A home pool is pretty easy to maintain properly with a big margin of error.

Good luck with getting someone to do an ingrown pool before September. I can't even find a repairman for mine. - Monroe

We've ordered ours in November and it still hasn't been put in. The rain keeps pushing everything back.
