This weed has taken off in one section of my yard that I share with a neighbor the last two weeks with the rains we’ve been having. His yard is full of it and it’s finally spread into mine. I’d like to get a handle on it now before I mow and spread this to other areas of my lawn. Thought it might be Dallisgrass but the blades look to wide for that. Carpet Grass maybe?

Second picture looks to be the early stages of a dallis seed head but overall it looks like crab

What type of lawn grass to you have? If crabgrass and you have a centipede lawn you can use sethoxydim to kill it, if St Augustine not much you can do other spot spray it with a non-selective herbicide. If Bermudagrass MSMA will kill it but it’s no longer labeled for use on residential lawns.

I don’t see any but look for the seed stems when they pop up. It’s either dallis or crab. I think it’s crab grass though.

You got crabs. Smooth crabs to be exact.

Do we have a sticky thread this year for Weed ID?

Is this also early stages of crabgrass? This is mixed in my brand new Bermuda seed. This area was nearly bare before so it’s a bit frustrating. Anything I can do now or just wait until the Bermuda establishes? It’s only been about 2 weeks, Bermuda is coming in nicely though.

Some type of grass, not sure, but I don’t believe it’s crabgrass. Don’t use any herbicides on newly seeded, emerging Bermudagrass, wait until it’s established, maybe by fall, by then that other grass should be large enough to be identified unless ronk or Gamecocks22 can iD from that small size.
