What should I do with this space next to my carport?

Apologies for the blurry photo. Didn't realize it was this bad until I pulled it up on my computer.

This is not attached to the foundation and is elevated about half an inch above our carport slab. We have a lot of trees on this side of the driveway that have cause it to crack and raise along it and it has ruined this entire section. I got the house like this years ago and it hasn't really gotten much worse outside of the bottom right of the photo where you can see someone (not me) tried to fill in a spot with concrete mix and it just looks dumb. That's where our tree is raising the drive way and where I'd like to start removing the concrete and replace it with something else.

To the back right of the photo, someone apparently decided to pour what looks like a weird fat curb along the edge? It's pretty goofy and I'd get rid of that too.

My initial idea would be to put sod down or put a small shed there to store lawn equipment that we currently have in a room behind the house. The space does not get much sunlight outside of the first hour of morning sun, so we can't grow anything there. I'd be worried that whatever sod I put down would just die immediately. If we go the shed route, maybe I can do a small compacted gravel base and cut off the gravel area from the plants in the background with some landscape edging.

I wouldn't mind some type of hang out spot on that side of the house, however I just can't think of anything that would look great aesthetically. If anyone has anything similar on their property or has ideas, I'm interested to look at those as well.

I'll get better photos in a bit. This is just an idea I'm considering since I will have Baby #2 coming in a few months and probably won't have the time in the future to work on something like this while I have that extra free time.

I assume by the small compacted gravel you are considering tearing up the current concrete pad, then dig down a few inches and lay gravel (IMO, #57 limestone may be best) that could adjust to future tree root growth without messing up the shed?

If you go the gravel area and shed, could you also do an extended layout with the gravel and use that as sort of a hangout area with some outdoor furniture that could withstand weather, fire pit/table depending on distance from roof/low trees, with #2 coming you could never have too much outdoor storage if you also want to include a small storage box/bench

I truly don't know how much more these tress can grow. They feel maxed out. The small trees nearby seem unlikely to do the damage that the sycamore has done.

Could I economically go with a smaller gradation than #57? Maybe pea gravel?

Warning on pea gravel, it will attract outdoor cats and their shite.

could do something like this if you wanted a spot that would be cool to relax and have a drink with friends/family

Honestly, it probably wouldn’t grow grass in that area because of the shade, so the former owner just poured concrete to have additional parking.

You could tear up that extra concrete, lay down some nice fake turf and be dropping your golf scores in no time
