What’s this weed? I have a bunch of them popping up in the back of my yard.

Looks like a type of Aster, maybe of the genus Symphyotrichum.

ETA: or it could be a spiderwort. Is it a wetter area? I have some spiderworts that are similar in appearance.

Yes. That part of the yard is classified as wetlands.

Where's the wee? I think smell may help the ID for wee so that may be a problem here.
