Wasps from fireplacePosted by HarryCallahan

‘Tis the season for wasps coming down the fireplace seeking a warmer environment. Think I’m going to wrap the chimney cap with porch screen that I have in my storage shed. I don’t use the fireplace for anything other than the gas logs installed. No real wood burning. The damper is cracked to allow the CO to escape when I’m using the logs. Thoughts?

Light the gas log and roast the frickers.

I had the same problem every year at an old house
Never could locate a nest, but just put up with them for a few months every fall

I’m afraid I saw honey bees going in my chimney cap last weekend.

I was up there hanging Christmas lights and saw wasps flying around but no nest. I’m thinking the screen tie wrapped will do the trick. I know they’re only going to a warmer place. Happens every year now for 4 years since building my house.
