re: Washing Machine Recommendations

I had an GE washer that I bought around 2005. Just a few knobs, no control board. It finally died last year with transmission problems, so I found a used appliance guy on Facebook and bought another GE washer with knobs for $200. It works great and if it breaks, I can fix it cheap. I have 3 teenage girls in my house and I just don't see the need to spend more money on an expensive machine. This one does what it's supposed to do, why spend more for something that does the same thing and costs more to repair?

Those knobs are a trap. They turn a control board not a timer. And GE boards are $$$$ but they are decent machines.

Speed Queens are king but the washing volume is a lot smaller than the other brands. Gonna test my luck with an LG and pray for the best.
We’ll see you in a few years. I just threw out 4 year old LGs (washer + dryer) that were still running, I just hated them. Couldn’t be happier now that my clothes are actually washed AND dried.

I went with LG and dont regret it. By many accounts out there, they are having less issues out there than any other brand in recent years.

I’m purchasing a new top loader to replace it and looking at LG but can’t decide between the agitator or impeller models. They’re both highly rated.
Impellers suck. You have to load your clothes in a donut shape of they don't get cleaned. So you can't just throw your clothes in,

Yeah I ended up going with the agitator model. Thanks for all the input
