Wall oven microwave combos

Building a new house and the wife and I like the microwave oven combos, but I’m concerned about reliability and having to replace the entire until if one or the other goes out. Thoughts?

We moved to a house that has this, and I too, have the same concern.
I have been able to fix a microwave, so I think I could again, but it will be a PITA with an oven attached to it.
If I could do a replacement, I'd go double oven and put the microwave over the stovetop

You don't really want to do that. Wall ovens are $$$$$ as hell now and there was a post about that just a couple days ago on here.
I commented that a wall oven I had bought right after Katrina cost me around $500 and it finally gave out just last year. When I priced new ones to replace it I was in for a shock and found one that would fit the space by the same manufacturer. That damn thing cost me $1,871 and change------just for the oven.
I will admit it was much better built than the one it replaced, better insulated, had the self-cleaning feature and weighed a good 50 lbs. more, but the price was ridiculous for what it is.

go with the separate wall oven with a shelf above it to plug in a regular microwave to put there, that is the best setup to have because you will have to change a micro several times over the years, the oven maybe once in 30 years, you dont want to have to buy a new oven because the micro broke and it cant be fixed

I am currently in a total house renovation.
We decided to go with the KitchenAid appliances and selected the 30" oven/ micro combo. The microwave doubles as a convention oven, which is an added feature we both wanted.
I was dead-set against the drawer microwave concept.
Dishwasher, 36" cooktop, and hood are included in the set.

I would go this route. I have a combo and have had to fix the microwave twice in 3 yrs. Could have bought 7 microwaves for the price it cost to fix. My repairman said the combos are crap and he would never own a combo.
