Bout to close on my home and was just wondering for budgeting reasons what is the average cost of all utilities not including internet and cable.

Denham Springs area/ 1600 sqft 3 Bed 2 Bath

-Gas/Electric
-Garbage
-Water
-Sewage
-Etc.

I was factoring in about 300$/month.

Is it a new build? If not, get the history from the prior owner.

If it is $300-$400 is about right. Maybe higher in the summer.

Old house in N.O. so take that into account.

Slightly larger sq. footage on the 2nd floor where we have our living quarters. Ground floor split between woodworking shop and man cave. Only run the A/C or heat in the man cave when down there, so limited usage.

Average utility bill a month is $250. Average SWB bill for water/garbage pickup runs between $100-110 a month.

In city limits or outside? Septic or city sewer? Gas or electric heat?

Inside city limits, Gas, garbage, water, sewage will be through the city. 8 yrs ago when I was there it was not that much. $60-70/mo or so I think. Water is cheap, and your sewage (if on municipal sewer system) will be reflective of your water usage.

Electric depends on if you have an efficient home, gas furnace and appliances or all electric.

All in all, you didn't provide enough details on pretty much anything for a real estimate, but your $300/mo isn't going to be far off for all that unless you are being excessive with your usage.

my house is in BR built around 2017 and around 1600sq feet

Biggest Electric Appliances:
Dryer
3 ton AC Compressor Unit

Biggest Gas Appliances:
Range
AC Heater Unit
Hot Water Heater
Fireplace (rarely used)

Winter months my electric+gas bill sits around $60-$80

Summer months it sits around $100

I have a Nest thermostat, and I live alone so depending on your living situation it could be more
