My dad put a bunch of artichoke leaves into his, few months after I put in a new Insinkerator Evolution 1-hp. The disposal did its best, it crammed a ton of shredded artichoke leaves into that drain pipe. Took an hour to unpack all that stuff and clean out the disposal but it still works.

Question: the pipes I have are from a universal drain kit that I used which included a flexible drain tube. At the time I wasn't sure how to do plumbing correctly and make it neat, but now I have my drain and disposal setup better and used the stiff pipes that came in the same universal kit. Am I good to continue using these or should I swap to regular PVC?

The hard plastic is either PVC or ABS already, not much value in swapping out to other PVC unless you want it all white.

i put in the red one from costco thats in store; i think around $75. are we saying that is a crappy disposal? its still under 2 years old so it hasnt been installed long enough for me to have an opinion right now.

I didn't see any other options. Truthfully, undersink garbage disposals are unnecessary. Non-liquid waste should never go down, but convenient to have these machines when needed. Moving parts + food + liquid never adds up right. The machine we got sounds nice. I only use it when I know tiny bits of food have made it to the sink, and I am also the one who washes dishes, trying to avoid using the disposal as much as I can.

Oh man I always shove lemon and limes down it.
Maybe I shouldn't but it sure does smell good.
