Torpedo grass - how difficult is this going to be?

I have a roughly 400 sq ft area of my lawn that's being taken over by this stuff. I've sprayed the entire area with glyphosate and it's starting to turn yellow/brown but I'm reading that it sometimes takes multiple applications to completely eradicate this, and even that's a stretch to say. I want to nip this in the bud before it takes over the entire lawn. It's in an area that was filled in with river sand about three years ago (I know, don't kick me while I'm down, just help me lol).
Will glyphosate kill all the underground rhizomes or am I screwed? I'm reading that they may grow possibly up to a foot deep. Should I dig up the entire area, turning it all over and exposing whatever may be deep down to the sunlight then spraying that dirt/material again or is that overkill?
Here's a pic for those of you who know more about this, just in case I'm misidentifying it.

I've had good luck with multiple applications of high % glyphosate and surfactant. You will need to be diligent and keep an eye on it consistently. If and/or when you see it starting to come back, hit it again.
Personally I would not dig up the area.

You don't have to till but you will have to repeat glyphosate several times. The big key is to make sure you don't have it anywhere else-flowerbed or neighbors yard. I'd consider resodding with bermuda or zoysia so you can use quinclorac if it ever comes back.

I bought a sod plugger to transfer St. Augustine from the rest of the yard to that area afterwards but then I read exactly what you recommended and returned it. I'll just plant a shite ton of bermuda or zoysia seeds there afterwards (probably next spring). I'm going to focus on killing the torpedo grass the rest of this summer and just start over in that section next year.

Bermuda seed is easier than Zoysia seed from what I hear.

Well, no, but if it's as hard to get rid of as people say it is, I'd rather be able to spray quilorac or whatever it is later to be able to get rid of it without killing the rest of the grass. You can't spray that on St. Augustine grass. It's a section on the side of my house where nobody really sees, so if I'm going to have a different type of grass somewhere, that'd be the spot I'd choose it to be.

I would do several applications. I’m not sure about digging or tilling the area. You may spread it more. Also would go a few feet farther than where the torpedo stops. Watch for it popping up in other spots and spray as needed. I would just let it be dead until next spring to make sure you get it all.

Is this Bermuda? Quinclorac will make it pretty much disappear for months at a time.
