Figured this thread was better suited here than the OT.

Bought a new vehicle with dark leather seats. Went to the beach last week and got white sunscreen stains all over the leather

Any way to get it out? And any type of application to protect it from staining again?

If you put it on the OT, no telling what kind of replies you would have got. Anyway, this stuff works great at removing built up seat gunk. I don't know what it will do for sunscreen but I have used this stuff for years. It works great. Follow the directions including applying it heavily, then leaving it parked in the sun (outside, not in a garage) for a few days.

Ask for Matt.
I had the same thing happen on my brand new Tundra last year with brown leather seats. I tried multiple cleaners with no success. They were able to remove stains and put a sealer on all interior surfaces including leather.

Most car leather is actually a painted coating on top of the leather itself. Some high end cars may have fully dyed leather but that is pretty rare.

One of the best interior cleaners I have used is Griot's garage Interior Cleaner. It got marker stains off my wife's Sienna brown leather in our minivan. I also use it to do a clean of the leather surfaces when I deep clean and you wouldn't believe the dirt it gets off the leather steering wheel.

Follow up with a protectant after cleaning.

Hope this helps.

Simple green full strength and a medium bristle brush. Scrub it until its foaming up and looks clean, vacuum what you can off, then let it dry. It might take more than 1 try but it will come out. Just be sure to apply a leather conditioner after so it doesnt dry the leather out.

Always start with the least toxic solution and work your way up. If you are scrubbing or the solution is rubbing color away then you have worse problems.

One that I really like for interiors is Woolite mixed 5 parts water to 1 part Woolite. Yes the same Woolite people use on sweaters and clothes. Try it in a inconspicuous spot to make sure no color runs happen. Do this with anything on an interior. If your good then use a soft bristle brush to work it into the leather and then remove softly with a microfiber by dabbing not rubbing to pull the liquid up. Note that the Woolite solution is awesome for headliners and way cheaper.

Griots interior cleaner is also good. Their All in One leather spray cleaner is good too. Leather Honey is good stuff.
