Sewage Smell

Well $&@#...literally.
Started noticing a slight possible sewage smell outside in my backyard about two days ago after some heavy rain.
When I got home tonight I didn’t smell anything but wasn’t really paying attention. About 45 minutes later and after I took a shower, the back yard smells like a homeless person shite in it...
How bad is this?

Septic system? Might just be temporary from the rain, or it could be drain field failure.

Septic? If not, does your waste line run through your backyard?

If it is beyond your septic tank, it could be a field line failure or back up. Can you locate a small or very small 'pool' of gray water or gray chalk-like mud? Or, it could be a temporary result of the massive rains most of us have been having.

Mine did the same thing whenever my aerobic pump went out on my septic system. They usually contain a linear pump with two diaphragms. Mine would smell occasionally when one diaphragm went out and I didnt realize what happened until the other failed causing an alert which prompted me to make a repair.

Bumping this thread because I recently experienced that exact same thing. Slight smell,
after rain, came back later, etc.
Did OP ever figure out the issue?
I realized my nearly 2 yo septic has never been pumped, so dumped a thing of Rid X in last night and figured that should help. No electronic pump that I’m aware of.
It wasn’t a strong smell and no wet spots in the yard to indicate problems, so hoping maybe the barometric pressure and rain/humidity caused a smell to linger

check the discharge from your tank, usually it out falls into a ditch.
if the ditch floods it can back up into your tank and/or get trash in it

The problem may be with your septic system, or if your family's plumbing system is broken or clogged
