has anyone went thru this recently with one of the local power companies? slemco, cleco, entergy, etc
IM fine with going overhead if its cheaper. waiting for them to go out and survey just mostly interested if anyone has done something similar recently to get an idea of what the price would be.

A friend of mine has a large greenhouse operation at least 1000 ft from the road. The power company would only drop it at the road, she had to hire contractors to bring it all the way back to the house and the greenhouse operation.
This is in Georgia, power company Walton EMC.

How much amperage are you needing? Have you looked into solar? It's come a long way and prices are down at the moment.

WSTE ran to my house for free when we built 5 years ago. They just made me sign something stating I wouldn't pursue power with another company which we have access to from the other side of our place.

They would need a ROW to drop a transformer close to your house, whether it's above ground, or at grade.
A 1,000' run of 120/240V would be a very large voltage drop.

Stupidity prevails with solar.

There's ways to store electricity. It's use-case dependent. If it's a hunt camp or fish camp, it can make a lot of sense, especially if it's a mile off the road. That's why I asked what his use-case was.
ETA- did you actually graduate Auburn or are you just a redneck sidewalk fan?
Hint: There's no correct answer ....
