I just put down some centipede sod in BR. Would it help to use some root stimulator (Indole-3-butyric acid aka IBA) to help the roots establish before freezing temps get here? This mix also contains 4-10-3 fertilizer.

Can I also use this mix now on newly planted trees and shrubs?

Any new root growth you get would be fresh and more susceptible to negative cold effects. I'd opt not to use it in December and waiting for March/April.

Everything I’ve seen from RGS seems to work really well

SEA-K vs RGS

Here's a video comparing the root/stolon growth of St. Augustine grass using sea kelp and RGS. Sea kelp is the stimulant that really drives the root growth. RGS has sea kelp in it, just at a lower concentration than the jug of straight sea kelp.

Ugh... indole 3 butyric acid is an auxin. Kelp has auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, minerals, and some trace elements. Items sold as iba have more iba than kelp, but lack all the other things.
