Ring doorbell 3

Have a Ring doorbell 3 I am going to mount. I have looked over the instructions and recommendations but was just wondering if anyone has anything to add that I may overlook before I mount it. Mine did not come with a bit but everything I have seen online says a 15/64 bit. It is going into brick. Most everything says mount it 48" high. Anything else that may help?

Mount it where existing door bell is located, you can at least use one of the screw locations from existing doorbell.

Super easy install. We had a ring doorbell in our last home, just purchased and set up Arlo for this house. The Arlo one required an added piece in the actual chime. I tried it without (because I don’t recall this with the previous ring) and it caused a constant humming/buzzing noise from the chime. Honestly have no idea what the chime box thing does but works well now and has great camera resolution.

As for what it does, you've found that it prevents the humming/buzzing, but here's the why. A regular doorbell button is a simple momentary switch... "on" (closed circuit) when pressed and "off" (open circuit) when released. A video doorbell needs current to flow all the time, though, so without the chime box hardware the dinger will get a trickle of current all the time causing it to make noise. The chime box device allows current to flow to the doorbell constantly while only sending it through the chime when it gets the signal from the doorbell.

Is the Arlo doorbell more responsive than Ring? By the time I get a Ring notification on my phone, the person at the door has already left.

I have the arlo pro 2 wireless cameras, notification is instant, but the live video/audio takes a while to establish.

mines installed like nearly waist high. Terrible location.

Reolink has a door bell now. I installed it the other day. No subscriptions on any of my cameras.

and your thoughts on this doorbell in terms of response time for notifications and/or video?

My Ring doorbell got hacked and the SWAT team busted my door down in the middle of the night.
I no longer have one

Notifications are about 3 seconds. When I live stream to my TV, the video is about 5 seconds.
