Replacing patio fans, have existing wall dial switches

That control the speed of the fans. I bought wet rated fans, but after opening the box, the instructions indicate not to hook up to speed control switches. Is that really a problem? I’ve already decided not to risk it, so I am returning them, but I’m having trouble locating fans that indicate you can use with such a switch.

Prob easier to remove the speed controls. Not sure how else this would work.

I have 2 fans under my patio that I'd love to replace with something that actually puts our airflow.
I don't have a fan controller on either, but I do have pull strings. Looking for suggestions as well.

I recently bought 8 of these fans for my business.

They’re metal and hold up extremely well for outside use. I’ve painted them and have had no problems. All of my fans are on speed controls. Only downfall is if you need a light.

You will be fine with speed control dial. The instructions say that just to CYA, maybe it voids the warranty? I don't see why it would be a problem, the fan is either getting power from the switch or its not- regardless if it is a simple on/off or speed control switch. Ho
